Latest On Broddie & Mitchell?
Haven't seen anything & the last thread went off the rails. Any info on their status? And before you write it, I saw the original announcement of it being an "internal matter".

@TheCAJasonSmith Mailbag this week: What's the status update on Broddie& Mitchell?
— Scott Lencke(@prodigalthought) November 19, 2015

So here's where things stand with Broddie and Mitchell: I'll start with Mitchell, the former Texas A&M commitment whom Memphis added in October. He isn't practicing with the team nor has he attended games this season and I'm fairly certain he won't be back with the team. Why? Because he isn't good enough.

I think Pasnter panicked a bit when he found out this preseason that he might not have senior guard Kedren Johnson for the entire year due to a shoulder injury and added a player he thought would give Memphis some insurance at the point guard spot. The problem is, Mitchell wasn't good enough. And we've seen now with how well freshman Jeremiah Martin has played in a backup point guard role behind Ricky Tarrant that the Tigers probably didn't need to add him.

Now, regarding Broddie, Pastner wants to redshirt him, but that hasn't happened to this point. Like Mitchell, Broddie hasn't attended any of the Tigers' games this season and right now remains on suspension.

Will he accept the redshirt and return to the team? That's hard to say at this point. But it wouldn't surprise me if both sides ultimately decided to part ways.

I hope that people don't freak out because these two guys aren't with the team, especially since it has been stated that one isn't good enough, and the other doesn't want to accept a redshirt. Coach probably shouldn't have recruited the players in the 1st place.

..and you cant blame Pastner for recruiting players not good enough to play at this level.

As long as the kids go elsewhere and graduate we are golden.

Pastner going to become the king of the run off rule

RE: Latest On Broddie & Mitchell?
Kedren has not played, but he has dressed for every game.

as the season grinds, having him break back into the rotation, whether off the bench or moving into a starting position is a key.

Like every team in the nation, we have some players who may not quite be ready for this level right out of the gate, and like every team in the country we will have scholarship players who are not in the main rotation.

Key being like every team in the country. Not likely to stop the swill, but good to see SOME reasoned comments above...noe of which mean anyone thinks our coach is the best thing nor sharing opinions that he is the worst thing, neither of which fit.

I sure hope that Mitchell wasn't going to be able to play at Texas A&M.

This is two or three times in the last few days I've agreed with you. One of us is morphing. Nope, Pastner's neither the best nor the worst, but he does have a penchant for signing freshmen who don't finish. Shaq will be #4 out of four classes, following DJ, Chris & Joe, to start & finish under Josh. And Markel is the only one on the team now who isn't a freshman and has a shot at it.
