Is Boise State's reign over?
They have three losses this year and haven't had less than two losses than 2011. Between 2002 and 2011, they were undefeated or had one loss 9 of the ten years.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
But the answer is yes. NIU is the new Boise. Boise-Lite is what I've heard nicknames of

Quit trying to make NIU happen, because NIU isn't happening.

From a non-joking perspective... everything Boise did NIU is doing now and for a longer period of time in a more dominating fashion. The only this missing is a BCS victory. Other than that, I'd say they are essentially the same in terms of accomplishment

Interesting to note that the ESPN announcer, Jason Benetti suffers from cerebral palsy

I'm gonna go w hmmmmm... No!

They were absolutely dominating low key for a long time. 3 BCS wins. A Big East invite. Their own ESPN contract. Facilities. Etc. NIU is going the right direction though.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
Boise State won 149 games in 13 seasons (2002-2014) including victories in 3 BCS/CFP bowls.

The next team that does that will be entitled to call itself the new Boise State.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
Boise has 2 BCS WINS. Huge OOC wins vs VT, Georgia, Oregon, and others.

Also, Boise did it a whole hell of a lot longer than NIU did. NIU has been 5 years winning at least 11 games. Boise won at least 11 games in 6 of the last 7 years, and 10 of the last 13 years. With a 10 win season in there. Yeah NIU has the 5 years with 11+ wins, but had NEVER had a 11 win team in school history before then. So no way no how. It's not remotely close at all.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
Stay Cool

Boise has a legit stadium, legit fan base, plays in a tougher conference, better recruiting, travels to bowls better, been in numerous huge national games, plays the P5 teams pretty much as an equal status wise...NIU is doing nice things but sorry there is a pretty big difference.

Boise's fan base is pretty wide spread out west...NIU's is just a tiny pimple around DeKalb.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
NIU isn't quite Boise-esque yet. They need to play in (and win) more Access/BCS bowls. However, NIU seems to be following the Boise way. Similarities are definitely there. When someone talks about the MAC, they think NIU...similar to the Mountain West and Boise. The question is whether they should continue to be the big fish in a small pond (ie Boise) or strive to be a big fish in a big pond (ie the AAC). I think AAC membership would be the correct goal. If they can excel in the AAC, I think NIU drastically increases their odds of finding a future P5 home.

RE: Is Boise State's reign over?
I think the funniest thing is him claiming that NIU had been doing it longer than Boise. NIU is 5 years. 2010-14. Here's the records the 10 years before:
7-6
6-7
2-10
7-6
7-5
9-3
10-2
8-4
6-5
6-5

mediocre.

now here's Boise's records in that period:
12-1
14-0
12-1
10-3
13-0
9-4
11-1
13-1
12-1
8-4
10-2

Boise in that period- 112-17(the #1 team in all of FBS)
Northern Illinois- 68-53(#44 in all of FBS).

I agree, the AAC is a very strong conference and definitely has the capability to catapult teams to a P5 position. Hopefully that is the goal for NIU right now!

Also who are you even a fan of? You seem to always have a vendetta against MAC teams... so what's you deal?
