Aresco wants to avoid the pitfall created with allowing members to participate in all sports except football. I don't think 1 or 2 will be that big of an issue, but keep in mind that by adding Oly Sport only members, you have two very distinct motivations driving programs in one conference which can only be divisive. The conference still needs to establish unity and an identity, and partial members undermine that.

I would be okay with 1 non-football member to offset Navy football. With that said, it needs to be a solid add. Wichita and VCU seem to be the best candidates, but I'm still not 100% convinced with either one.

And even if they did join, the possibility of them leaving to join BE at a later time would be ever-present.

Essentially saying that unless an addition makes more dollars, it makes no sense.

Is this a joke? VCU? Add BYU,Army,Air Force or Colorado State.

The AAC doesn't need a non football member. I don't see a need for any further AAC expansion at this time. Your conference looks good as it is and hopefully can keep together.

this. we are building a brand for ourselves and with our current teams I think we will get even more recognition with more seasons in football like we are having this year.

What if they added money to our league? When our TV deal comes up in the next couple of years if they add enough value to help us financially I don't see any reason not to do it. They will be earning NCAA credits for us also.

TV likes VCU they are on all the time. They play an exciting style and they sell out their home games.

i agree with adding a western wing with BYU, et al IF we can get them. If not, adding a VCU doesn't hurt us at all. One Bball only doesn't cause problems. Having 6 or 7 like the old a big east is not good.

If TV tells us it's worth it we should do it.

VCU would pay an exit fee too. Right now the American is pretty close to the Big East anyway plus better espn coverage. Only difference is a much larger revenue share in the big east. Fox isn't going to pay a dime more for the big east failure so no expansion is likely.

Add VCU, Wichita State, and St Louis. Having 5-8 tourney teams separates us from many other leagues.

because if we wanted a hybrid league we should have made it work with Gtown, Nova, and the C7 and kept the Big East name. That's why.

We have a hybrid league now since we invited Navy. Having one basketball only (VCU) and one football only (Navy) is not the same thing as having the C7. Totally different.

Though I agree we shouldve kept the Big East name if it was possible.

I agree and I wouldn't be against it. The problem is that adding a no football school really doesn't move the needle money wise
