The only thing which makes it risky is the fickleness of most fans. Many of the same ones who say "offer Fuente whatever it takes - hang the cost" will quickly decide that he is an idiot and vocally demand his firing after a couple of bad seasons. I have watched such nonsense around here for 48 years, going back to those bumper stickers saying "Boot Spook" back in 1971.

Last years team was very successful due to a great defense (Odom). This years team is extremely successful due to Offense (Paxton).
Both of those may be gone next year, Fuente has not proven he can do it consistently.
I know it is the right thing to do, but it just seem risky, could possibly turn into Pastner version 2.0.
We are set at QB for at least another 4 years. With what we have under rd shirt we do not have to worry much about the immediate future. With Fuente's reputation we should continue to sign good QBs.

No, you are not the only one. I think a bigger issue would be whether a larger school would be willing to invest as much in him at this point. Clearly he has done a really good job here in four seasons, even season two, which saw his wins go from four to three, had all the metrics of improvement...until the last two games of that season which were turkeys.
But, if I was a Southern Cal, and this is in no way thinking or having any idea whether a Southern Cal would make contact, I would want to see if he sustains success after a Lynch leaves and yes, after the last of Porters recruits cycle though, which would mean next year.
From our standpoint, I cannot imagine that butts in the seat for our last home game this year would not be very important. Whether we win or lose today's game.
We need big time fans to keep what we hope turns out to be a continued big time coach.

Sure it's "risky"-- what's the better response? That's rhetorical---

No doubt he get P5 offers after he's brought this program from a 'near death' state to now. I think if it's money only that's good enough to keep him---- IF it's money only.

we don't have fickle fans, (not more than any other school)we have a few morons spouting nonsense.
