Year of the QBs: C-USA gunslingers among nation's best

FOUR CONFERENCE USA QBS ENJOYING HUGE YEARS
Conference USA is home to four quarterbacks who have passing yardage numbers that rank top 15 in the country. Western Kentucky's Brandon Doughty, Southern Miss' Nick Mullens, Middle Tennessee's Brent Stockstill and Louisiana Tech's Jeff Driskel are all enjoying huge statistical years

While these are all excellent qb's, part of me wonders if their numbers aren't in part due to such terrible defenses they are playing against.

At least USM gets Mullens for one more year.

I wonder if the good guys will play USM again next year. Maybe it will be a home game.

Yep. Three of those QB's lead top 15 scoring offenses.

One of those isn't. Hmm.

Also, three of those teams also have winning records after 10 games. One of them doesn't. Hmm.

It was a good article and MTSU has a solid QB that will get plenty of help in the backfield next season.

Which QB threw for the most yards in the last two games? Hint: Not one of those four, and he will also be back next year.

Did you really just insert "look at what our QB has done in the last two games" in a discussion about quarterbacks being among the best in the nation for the season?

If the season started two weeks ago we'd be undefeated.

Our backfield would have been very good next year without I'Tavius Mathers joining the mix. I definitely have high hopes for next year.

Umm -- yes I did, and here is why. DW has only played QB for four games this year, but since taking over for ODU, the Monarchs have won 3 of 4, and he has averaged 289 yards a game. That is number five in the conference and just behind the top four. The fact that he has thrown for over 660 yards in the last two games is in fact noteworthy.

The discussion had turned to which of the four will be back next year, and I thought it pertinent to note that the conference's No. 5 QB would also be back. If that offended your sensibilities -- my most sincere apologies.
