RE: Ohio Forum - some fans not too impressed by Huskies
Hahaha my god, i'm so sick of hearing opposing MAC fans talk about NIU like we are lucky to be here and that we aren't really that good. What the heck is everyone smoking? Or, more likely what is everyone free basing?

How many years in a row do you have beat up on these teams before their fans go "you know what, NIU is pretty good."

These fans are talking about how Ohio is going to "knock NIU down a peg," are you kidding me? Ohio sucks.

......Ohio sucks.

sometimes I feel like i'm the only NIU fan that expects NIU to win every game we play. In fact I expect them to dominate the games they play. Why don't NIU fans have complete confidence in NIU? I believe one of the reasons we don't have many fans at games or aren't seriously taken in the conference realignment discussion is because we don't have an alumni base and student base with swagger. We have this weird complex, we know we're really good, but it doesn't matter type thing. Having moved to the great state of Texas and interacting with Houston fans and even SMU fans, they have a swagger like no team can beat them. But time and time again we have our own fans predicting we will lose by honest to god 21 to Western effing Michigan. Or get blown out by Toledo....Toledo. Give me a break. Every team should fear us...instead other teams fans just go "Well, NIU isn't that good, they just get lucky." F**K that. We are better than every team in the MAC. Am I really supposed to be afraid of Bowling effing Green? No. The only teams that I feel nervous about are in the P5, and it's not even close to being every team in the P5, just a select few.

Anyway, that's my little rant. Our fan base is kind of wussy to me, and they need to step it up. No one ever got to the top by being the nice guy, it's time to get mean and to have a confidence and swagger that our program puts on the field every year. It just baffles me that we don't. Must be that midwest cold I guess.

Clearly NIU has the best cyber-fans. Morning after the third win against a MAC Bowl team, the next team is trash talking.
Time for NIU FB to get lucky against Ohio again.

hahaha, well played. But don't let the past define you, you make your own future or something to that nature lol. Times have changed, so should the attitudes.

Well, it doesn't matter much what the fans think. I know the players have swagger and confidence that they will win, that's a good part of the reason why they keep winning. I agree that fans from other teams STILL think they're better and have more talent but somehow miraculously come up on the short end EVERY TIME they play NIU.

Very well-put. Who was it who said, "I would rather be lucky than good"?

First off, you make your own luck. NIU is not "lucky" they just work harder than every other team in the MAC. Period.

Second, it's "lose" not "loose"

I'm sorry but if you see disrespect in that thread you have to be really looking for it. One poster says he thinks Ohio wins. Frankly the thread seems pretty complimentary to you guys.

Well, for what it's worth, that last loss in November, back in 2009, was to Ohio....

Only one poster said he was not impressed. Either way, Ohio seems to be playing better lately. Should be an interesting game.

They were really taken down a peg.

Thank-you.
It was attributed to "Lefty" Vernon Gomez a NYY baseball player in the 1930's and early 40's.

that was a dark time, my undergrad time was that entire 5 year era that caused the losing streak.
