How many years in a row do you have beat up on these teams before their fans go "you know what, NIU is pretty good."

These fans are talking about how Ohio is going to "knock NIU down a peg," are you kidding me? Ohio sucks.

......Ohio sucks.

sometimes I feel like i'm the only NIU fan that expects NIU to win every game we play. In fact I expect them to dominate the games they play. Why don't NIU fans have complete confidence in NIU? I believe one of the reasons we don't have many fans at games or aren't seriously taken in the conference realignment discussion is because we don't have an alumni base and student base with swagger. We have this weird complex, we know we're really good, but it doesn't matter type thing. Having moved to the great state of Texas and interacting with Houston fans and even SMU fans, they have a swagger like no team can beat them. But time and time again we have our own fans predicting we will lose by honest to god 21 to Western effing Michigan. Or get blown out by Toledo....Toledo. Give me a break. Every team should fear us...instead other teams fans just go "Well, NIU isn't that good, they just get lucky." F**K that. We are better than every team in the MAC. Am I really supposed to be afraid of Bowling effing Green? No. The only teams that I feel nervous about are in the P5, and it's not even close to being every team in the P5, just a select few.

Anyway, that's my little rant. Our fan base is kind of wussy to me, and they need to step it up. No one ever got to the top by being the nice guy, it's time to get mean and to have a confidence and swagger that our program puts on the field every year. It just baffles me that we don't. Must be that midwest cold I guess.

You say every team we play sucks. That gets kind of old. And comes across as very arrogant & actually immature to others reading your posts. Come on - be a classier fan. 04-cheers

ONE post says he wasn't impressed with the WMU game and he thinks Ohio (his favorite team) can win next week. Boo, hoo, hoo, is that really too harsh for you? And the other "offensive" post says he hopes Ohio can "take NIU down a peg"? Really, that hurts your feelings?

Unbelievable, you sound like a bunch of Marshall fans.

Ohio did lose those games.

Ohio had WMU shut out until very late in the second half when a star linebacker Quentin Poling went down for injury. That affected the entire defense which collapsed without him on the field. Ohio then proceed to lose 3 games in a row in high scoring blow out fashion.

Poling comes back for the Kent State game and Solich shuts out Kent 27-0 for the first shutout of a MAC team since 2004, the year before Solich started coaching at Ohio.

The next week against Ball State, Ohio's D played well enough to control the time of possession. Ohio ended the game on the 1 yard line letting time run out. They could have easily put 55-60 points on the board instead of only 48. 684 yards of offense for the Bobcats last week.

This is why there is some hope among the Bobcat faithful for a win on Tuesday. Poling is back. The team is executing well lately. The Bobcats have as much speed and talent as ever. Laid some real @@@ kickings on a few schools this year.

I love being underestimated. It puts an even bigger chip on our guys' shoulder when they think they have something to prove.

Luck = preparation + opportunity.

Ohio's a good team. I don't expect a blowout. NIU is pretty good at home though, I do expect a win. But it will be close.

That line was in former NIU head coach Doc Urich's playbook in 1969. It actually was "luck is when preparation meets opportunity."
