Keys To Victory
I thought there were two main keys to NIU's win last night.

1. Holding Western to 3.1 yards per carry on the ground. Not complaining, but if you're WMU, why do you run the ball 44 times vs throwing it only 39 times? I understand you need a run/pass balance, but it was pretty obvious that when Terrell had time to throw, he was picking apart our secondary. Carey even said in his post game radio interview that Terrell was "picking apart" NIU at times.

2. QB Pressure. NIU had 4 sacks and dropped Terrell several other times. We got just enough pressure to make a difference. If even 1 or 2 of those sacks had turned into completions instead of sacks, it could have easily changed the outcome of a close game. Conversely, Graham was not sacked. Granted NIU threw the ball 16 less times than Western did, but our O-line did a great job protecting him and allowing him to make key completions.

On the negative side, we got zero points off two Western turnovers attained in enemy territory.

Run D is WMU's Achilles heel, and the Huskies took advantage of it.

I think WMU is probably the more talented team to be honest, NIU just finds ways to win, it really is getting to the incredible level at this point. NIU had no business beating Toledo and WMU with a 3rd or 4th string QB, I don't know how this team does it. I am done questioning Carey though, that's for sure.
