Rocket Hockey Playing in Regionals This Weekend
The UT Hockey team (yes, there is one for anyone who didn't know:
http://www.utoledohockey.com/teams/?u=UTHockey&s=hockey )

is playing the DII National Championship Tourney this weekend. Rockets are the 5 seed in the Southeast Region, and are playing 8 seed Delaware tonight. I have no clue where you can get updated scores anywhere except twitter, but from twitter, Rockets are leading 3-2 at some unreported time in the game.

Here are the tourney brackets:

Is this still club hockey? Did we make a transition to "NCAA" hockey?

It's a club team.

But for a club team they have been very good for a while. This year if I read their schedule right, they finished 14-4-3.

Best way to get the school to consider a varsity team would be to get all the hockey fans to support this one first.

Also, club hockey is very organized. They play under an association with dozens of teams across the country, have rankings and a national championship tourney. They even recruit players to come to UT. A far cry from what I remember as club teams years ago which were ah hoc gatherings who picked up games here and there with other schools and organizations.

RE: Rocket Hockey Playing in Regionals This Weekend
I'm not a hockey fan - but I will watch the Red Wings play live or will watch hockey when the playoffs come around - until the Red Wings are eliminated. So, I'm not a big proponent of bringing hockey to UT - unless there is a good feel for it being supported by fans and promotion. I would also wonder about the cost for hockey given the expense of equipment, sticks (lots of them) and ice time or building an arena. I would want to know how it is working out for BG in terms of cost and support. They were national champs once around 1980 or so - but I don't know how well it is supported now. I thought I had heard it was nearly dropped at BG.
