agreed. both of their tuitions are low already, so their operations are probably are quickly impacted by budgets.

Illinois also has a fair amount of other schools they could "scuttle" before moving to NIU:

The problem with those two schools consolidating is that they also probably serve a big portion of the residents of their respective towns. They're 3.5 hours apart, and to build a new campus in between would be counterproductive to shutting one down or consolidating.

Unless you're just talking about renaming one to theres "Eastern Illinois University - Charleston" and "Eastern Illinois University - Macomb" or something lol

With the POTUS having a residency in Illinois a federal bailout would be far more likely.
NIU has more minorities than any major public school in Illinois.

If NIU is falling down, at least we have PJ to transform Kalamazoo into DeKalb.
