The university had to deny the rumors, which in a way forces the hand of the university to at least acknowledge that such a rumor has credence...

No local media will otherwise force the hand of the university and the closest we have seen is when a reporter asked Fran if he was coaching for his job...and he laughed.

As far as the type of individual who spends time creating fake twitter handles and rumors....complete loser.
The last beat reporter we had was blackballed from covering TXST sports when he wrote honest assessments about the state of the football program.
He went on to being sports editor (he left last year though) and Vozzelli took over. (sometime in 2013)

That's the "message board" narrative. Mayforth never publicly made any such accusations.

Message boards are not the gospel. It is very likely that Mayforth's responsibilities grew beyond primarily covering TXST football, and before the SMDR could bring in someone else, a guy at BobcatReport notices that he isn't writing about the team anymore and assumes that he has been blackballed.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen but to pass this along as fact isn't responsible. It's perpetuating lynch mob rumors for the sake of piling on the AD.

People haven't believed things I know and find out, for years, so I don't expect you to be any different.

So you know what....... oh, forget it. I won't waste any more of your or my time.

Yes yes!!

The only thing better than Fran leaving would be Fran leaving to a team we get to play every year!

But then in a sad twist of irony, he'd probably beat y'all every year.

Touche

Our athletic director would be hiring his replacement and he is more of a problem than Fran

You won't hear me say that this program can't get any worse

RE: False Alarm: Franchione to resign at end of the season
This whole TxSt/Coach Fran saga has many resemblances to our final years of the Bustle era. In '08 and '09 we went 6-6 but no bowl invite and things were looking OK, but fans were never 100% sold on the guy. Then '10 starts off decent. After the 4th week of play we were 2-2 (2-1 in conference) and go into a Friday night home game vs. Oklahoma State. We have a 21-17 halftime lead and people are riding high, then the bottom falls out and we get our asses kicked. We go on to lose that game and then the next 6 games. In some of the games towards the end of the season, it looked like some of the guys weren't wholly into the game anymore. Sitting at 2-9 things aren't looking good for ole Rickey going our final game vs. ULM, but the team rallies to win one for the gipper. Luckily Bustle's fate was sealed prior to that game and he was let go the following Monday.
