Buffalo to become bowl eligible
Toledo to beat WMU

RE: NY6 Bowl
What had to happen for NIU to make the Orange Bowl:

1) tOSU was on probation
2) Week 13: Kent wins to stay ranked
3) Week 13: Arizona State defeats #24 Arizona
4) Week 13: Washington State defeats #25 Washington
5) Week 13: #1 Notre Dame beats USC (borderline to be ranked)
6) Week 13: #5 Oregon beats #15 Oregon State
7) Week 13: #8 Stanford beats #17 UCLA
8) Week 13: #13 Oklahoma beast #21 Oklahoma State
9) Week 13: 4-6 Pittsburgh beats #18 Rutgers
10) Week 13: Ohio State beats #19 Michigan
11) Week 13: 4-6 Connecticut beats #20 Louisville
12) Week 14: we beat #17 Kent
13) Week 14: #8 Stanford beats #16 UCLA (remember watching this from Cheli's)
14) Week 14: #6 Kansas State defeats #18 Texas
15) Week 14: Wisconsin wins the Big 10 championship over #12 Nebraska *huge - guaranteeing no higher ranked 16 BIG champ*
16) Week 14: Baylor beats #23 Oklahoma State

RE: NY6 Bowl
Serious question. Would you rather.........

Have the dominoes fall right and get a NY6 bowl but likely be a 2 TD+ underdog to a team like Michigan State or Florida or Baylor etc.

OR

Play in a MAC bowl against a G5 team if you knew they were guaranteed to win

Personally, at this point with this team, I'd take the second option.

If NIU makes a NY6 bowl, I want it to be with a strong team that has a shot to make it competitive. This team at this point...don't see that.

In 2012 We saw every card fall into place.
It's NIU it can happen again.

Nit-picking on my part, but Kent wasn't undefeated going into the MACC. They were 11-1 like NIU with a loss to Kentucky in Game 2. Still, they were ranked #17 going into MACC.

First option.
A second major Bowl bid would put us up there with Boise State.
More important than our five season 11 win season streak.

I would take the NY6 bowl. I believe we can play with anyone (look at OSU game). We may not win but the exposure and building the reputation will go a long way to helping us with our long term goal of leaving the MAC (not to mention the bigger payday)

I'd take the second option. I don't see Ryan Graham beating an elite P5 team.

Exactly, not to mention re-energize the fan base, donor base, etc. Frazier's conference presentation all but came out and said a 2nd Access Bowl is monumental in advancing conferences for many reasons, if you look at his comparison schools.

Access bowl. That should help to finish off the silent phase of the premium East structure along with selling naming rights to Huskie Stadium.

People already call NIU "Boise-Lite"

I heard that phrase casually tossed around quite often at tOSU. Their fans were surprisingly cordial and showered NIU with praise both before and after the game.

Also wouldnt it be better if Cinci won the AAC? I think we have a better resume than Cinci... that'd pretty much be handing us the G5 spot

Yes, UC or even UCONN are also still in it for the AAC East. It is only good for NIU if they could beat Houston/Navy in the championship.
