Toledo-BGSU
For the posters who thought Dino was the next coming of Christ, Matt Campbell and Toledo beat them @BGSU like a baby seal, 44-28.

One game where a more talented Toledo team beat BGSU solidly doesn't change my opinion on Dino Babers. Really love him as an up and coming coach.

He is 54 years old. Hardly up and coming. If he was so great why did his first HC gig come at age 54 at FCS Eastern IL?

I'd take Campbell 7 days a week and twice on Sunday over Babers. Much of Babers' success is predicated on having one of the best QB's in college football, whom he didnt recruit. Campbell has had sustained success on the back of him building the program, anyone with any ties to the UT Athletic Department knows that Campbell ran the team in 2011 while Beckman floated around between back room interviews. Plus you always pick the coach with experience RUNNING both sides of the ball in my opinion.

I won't pretend to be an expert on Toledo football. But this comment strikes me as odd. Toledo has played pretty good football the last 20 years. After Pinkel's successful tenure in the late 90s, Tom Astutz was a consistent winner before ultimately struggling his last few years before being replaced by Beckman who had a couple good seasons himself before Campbell took over. Or do you just mean that Campbell's current team/success is all based on what he has built himself over the past 4-5 yrs?

I'm saying he has sustained success while building HIS OWN team. Amstutz and Pinkel did well (and Saban for the year before them), Beckman came in after a dumpster fire and righted the ship.
The fact that Babers is getting run out by using players he didn't recruit and he is not doing well recruiting himself while Campbell has solidly recruited for 4 years now and sustained success is what I'm pointing at. Maybe I used the wrong phrasing, but I meant to say that.

I think Campbell is a hell of a coach. I remember when Illinois hired Beckman a lot of people said they hired the wrong coach from Toledo, that Campbell was the real brains behind his success at Toledo.

Nothing against Babers, good coach, but count me in as a bigger fan of Campbell. He is now 35-14 (24-7 MAC) and 2-1 Bowls. Plus, the guy is only 35 years old and to accomplish what he has at this age says something.

Maybe BG will burn those hideous brown uniforms after that loss. Someone at Adidas must have convinced the coaching staff those were a good idea one evening... after several rounds of adult beverages.
