Trib: NIU-Western Michigan game a family affair for Grahams
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/col...story.html

Ryan, making his second career start in place of the injured Drew Hare, is the resourceful red-headed quarterback with a strong arm and natural leadership skills. Corey Davis, whom the Grahams welcomed into their family before his junior year at Wheaton Warrenville South, is the African-American wide receiver with NFL potential on pace to become his school's career leader in receiving yards. Two players who consider each other siblings relish in being rivals, at least for one night.

I had heard about this before. What a great and fun story! My wife and I took in a high school sophomore and raised him as our own, along with our 5 kids, until he enlisted in the Marines after graduating high school. I understand this happens more often than many people know. That would be a tough one - who mom and dad root for! It is great to hear about one of our players come from a family that strong! I am sure that Graham reflects those values, and is a true asset to the team!

Yeah, my wife was Corey's 5th grade teacher. She told me all about that. Corey wasn't the only African-American kid families took in for WWS football.

I also hear there's another NIU/WMU hybrid involved -- PJ Fleck! :)

It is really great -- however, his older bro went to CMU as their star WR (first year not there anymore).

Kind of surprising that part of it wasn't "I need to take out CMU." Which he has done quite well, actually.

So here is a dumb question, why didn't Carey recruit Corey Davis to come to NIU along with Graham?

The article states that Davis was considered risky from a grade standpoint..WMU was only offer.

According to edgytim, Davis indicated he had an offer from Notre Dame but had to get through admissions.
