assuming that if he pushed The State U of New York at Buffalo hard he'll do something similar at UCF in some type of rebrand and marketing campaign going into next Fall

I thought that was already copyrighted by another school, if I'm not mistaken? Might be thinking of Ohio tech so don't take what i say as 100% accurate. I think if they could pull Florida tech that'd be a phenomenal way to break the directional stigma

It is, Firm just a vengeance against the name and now wants the rebrand since he got his wish with the resignation of GOL.

Well i can tell you my experience of what I saw from White in my experience of when he worked with NIU athletics, if you are interested. He was a very outspoken person and liked to put his own stamp on things, so it was fairly easy to pick out his contributions. From culture changes to his mission statements and such etc. If you'd like, i don't want to be accused of trolling for sharing information because i am primarily a fan of a non-AAC team.

How is this a good hire? I don't know crap about this guy admittedly. I just know Buffalo typically sucks.

Firm is on a roll. Florida Technological University (UCF's former name) is still available. Let ESPN decide what to call us, I guarantee that they won't say the whole name all game long.

well it's an AD. None of us know too much compared to judging a Football coach.

But he seems to be a good fundraiser and UCF/Orlando is much better market for him to continue that. Bigger market than Buffalo and without an NFL team to compete with.

I dont understand the animosity, i was just going to give my experience of the new UCF AD due to his prior work at the school i follow, and you instantly just attack me? This whole "no non-AAC fans allowed on our board" thing is kinda... not in accordance with the TOS

Well then i will give me experience

Some of the biggest immediate changes we noticed at Northern were a big push to marketing the NIU brand name. White was the forerunner for making sure we were known as NIU on broadcasts and in our publications. He very much tried to help our former and current AD disassociate the university with the directional moniker.

The other thing he was big on was grand plans. I'm sure you've probably seen the current NIU master plan (and if not,http://m.niuhuskies.com/m/genrel/103014aaa.html) and he was one of the primary groundlayers for this plan. He pioneered a lot of what we have began to see implemented here at NIU, and as a matter of fact the South Endzone Bowl was almost entirely his brain child. He is a very big dreamer, the kind of guy who could do well at a school with deeper pockets than NIU and UB. I think he could be a great hire for UCF if he can keep his vision on track.

They were...and most who worked there didn't do much to change it...till White came to UB.

Prior to White's arrival...UB had just 1 total conf championship over the last 15-20 years in all sports...but UB won 3 conf titles over the last year...including UB going to NCAA's in Hoops...plus, it looks like UB will go bowling for only the 2nd time in their program's history.

He tried (and in many cases was successful) in changing the mindset of UB Athletics...helped bring in largest gift in program history....helped double the number of boosters to the program...and obviously tried to market the program outside the Buffalo market...remind alumni, potential students/supporters that UB is a great school (AAU) and could be a solid athletic program too...but needs help (i.e. $$$/donations badly).

He will most likely targeted the unsupportive masses of UCF Alumni base...who always have reasons as to why they don't buy football/basketball season tix or why they won't even give $100 to the program...as UCF is pumping out over 11,000 alums per year.

Being just 35 years old...the zillion young UCF Alumni just might finally listen to someone on why its so important to help support their school. (Of course many will still come up with excuses as why they don't buy tix/donate to the school...because giving excuses is something they will always do).

I am happy with the hire. Now let's go get a coach who can recruit Florida and turn the Football Knights into a high scoring machine. I would also like to see Donnie Jones go. Our last head coach, Kirk Speraw took us to 4 NCAA appearances, Jones 0. I think we can do better.

Oh stop.

Only reason UCF went to the NCAA's in the past because UCF was stuck in one of the worst hoop conferences of all time (TAAC/ASUN) and won the conf tournaments.

In 17 years, Kirk never beat a dually ranked team (in both polls),as his biggest win ever was vs College of Charleston, who was ranked 25th in one poll during the same week they played.

Donnie has already beat a Top 5 team (UCONN), beat Miami multiple times, beat a #15 Florida Team...played USF head-to-head now (when it was a one-sided series), and even got UCF Hoop team ranked (which never happened in 17 years with Kirk).

Please don't compare the highly ranked AAC with the lowly TAAC/ASUN competition of the past.

I'm pretty sure Florida Tech exists in Melbourne. We should look at something like the University of Orlando. Change mascot to the Citronaughts.

In one of the UCF NCAA teams I believe we had a losing record which was a national embarrassment at seeding. I like Kirk as a person, but we never did anything of note in that 17 years. Going to the NCAA tourney should of happened at least. 8- 10 times in 17 years of A-sun play.
