After a really good performance/win, you don't need all the fans telling you how great you are--just to get more out of the experience. And after a really bad one, there's pretty much nothing anyone can say that makes you react any worse than you are already reacting within yourself.

Just another perspective.

My perspective is JF is human and thus influenced by negative feedback he perceives as unjustified.

Every perspective is welcome here...sort of. No matter what comes outta people's minds...ya just wanna not let it lower vitality too much. A little blip down is par for the course...just don't wanna stay too long in the down blip.

That's my perception and not a perspective. We (humans in general) tend to let what other people say/think lower our own energy...i.e. weaken us. It's just the way we're wired..most of us anyway.

Snow, you are a fair and honest person. Do you disagree with my post?

O. I'm sure he was affected by the loss, but I didn't watch the interview.

The loss slammed me. I left a goodbye note for the night, on the forum, come to think of it. LOL

Mostly I was saying that we human nutcases don't wanna let other people's reactions and emotions get to us. .

edit: that was just too long...I edited it down. :D

And our fans seem to have given up on everything. We are the University of Memphis, we aren't Alabama or Duke or Kentucky or Texas or Kansas. Going to games used to be fun, rooting for our team used to be what it was all about. Now it seems that if the Tigers aren't the very best team in the country, they aren't worth cheering for.

I cheer for the Tigers. Love it when we win, hate it win we lose, but love the team no matter what.

What you will find (probably already know), is that as the fanbase has gotten younger, their sense of entitlement runs rampant ... Instant gratification and all that kind of thing. Everything is supposed to be handed to them including an undeated football team.

There is a very large global corporation operating in my field that has recently hired a consulting firm to try and establish, Why Mileniums won't work ..."

Smh

Who said anything about you? Feeling guilty?

Of course you get upset about blowing a big lead and everything that goes along with losing. the stakes are higher now than two years ago.

But some have suddenly turned on CJF. No need to be defensive if that's not you.

It's a great year and I'm still enjoying the heck out of it.

As are all of us. It's ridiculous that we can't even talk about the game or coaches decisions without the police getting all riled up. It's a message board. Some people too closely relate real life with this place.

"I don't agree with the coaching decisions at the end of the game."

Police- "OH YEAH?? WELL WHY DONT YOU GO TELL THE COACHES THAT TO THEIR FACE!!! OR BETTER YET, SINCE YOU KNOW EVERYTHING, WHY DONT YOU JUST GO COACH THEM THE REST OF THE YEAR?!?!? MY GOSH!! OUR FANS HAVE JUST LOST IT!!!!"

Talk about over-reaction. You and Brother B define it. Nobody mentioned either of you. My post was about the general tone of the board. Hero to questioning his ability to recruit, coaching decisions, and yes even some saying it's time to move on.

We are further along than most people ever thought we would have been at this point after losing most of our Defense and key coaching staff.

So no police. Nobody saying you can't talk about anything. Only you got riled up. And only you and Brother B designated yourselves in a defensive mode. hmmm

So a detective then?

The one good thing about all this was people quit talking about where Fuente was going to go after this year.

It still may occur but if you think fans are falling apart now just wait if that happens.

JF spent more time than usual at his press conference addressing the Houston defeat - including a recap and perspective of the season results to date. I think the carping by some of our fans after the Houston defeat did not help his mood.

I didn't see the pressy, but I did read the transcript. I don't think he made those comments and spent that extra time for the fans, or the media either. He is a very confident man and really knows that he knows better than you and I and talking heads, what is best for the program.

I think that extra time was for his guys. They are at a crucial point with 3 games remaining. so he's making sure they are still all-in. And he will use the media pulpit if that can have some positive impact on his guys.

At least, that was my take.
