RE: CUSA Basketball - Week 2
That bama st team that won 19 games last year replaced 4 of their top 6, 5 of their top 8 players and 3 of their top 4 scorers

a win is a win but it sure looks like UAB didn't start up where they left off and with Rice's injuries and losing there first 2 and UNCC starting out 0-2 (Elon got beat by 20 tonight) it's not looking too good for CUSA early. I expect Western will add to the loss total on Wednesday night.

thank god ODU was able to do their part and lets hope muts who returns just about everyone can beat Murray St on Tuesday

Some of the starters are in pretty bad shooting slumps for the first 2 games. Plenty of mistakes going around too.

That ASU team won at Virginia Tech. They're a solid team. Nevertheless UAB didn't play to their potential. They'll come around.

I think Buzz Williams will get them on the right track sooner than later.

Looks like "later" if they are still losing to scrubs.

We need UAB to come out of the box strong this year ..so far you haven't but it was a win. If CUSA has any hope of a at large we need UAB, ODU and MUTS to take care of OOC games

I wouldn;t put too much in beating Vir Tech I think they finished last year 2-18 in their last 20. Maybe 3-17

I like Buzz but he hasn't won any meaningful games (yet, it's only his second year). He was close in a lot of games but could never finish. VT fans act like he is the greatest thing since sliced bread... when they only won 11 games and finished dead last in the ACC. But that is Virginia Tech for you. They get more excited about a dumb argyle sweater than how the team does overall

Nonetheless I don't want to take the win away from ASU. A win is a win and if the Hokies find their way later on in the season then it will look good that they beat an ACC team at home.

RE: CUSA Basketball - Week 2
If you were expecting anything out of Charlotte a few months after losing 7 of the top 8 eight scorers and parting ways with the coach, you're gonna have a bad time. It's all about looking for improvement throughout the season and a brand of basketball you think will be able to win down the road. I have confidence in Price and think we will see both of those things, but it will be a long year if you're just looking in the win column.

Looked like ASU replaced those players with some pretty good ones

We're gonna learn a lot about where we stack up as a conference through Saturday.

Charlotte (through three halves) is looking well coached and playing hard.

We however lack the bigs, experiences and general overall talent to win without playing a perfect game, its looking like a ten win season for us.

ODU joins UAB in this: Need to hit some free throws. Sooner or later, it's going to cost us, especially with the new enforcement measures of old rules.

CUSA Basketball - Week 2
So CUSA has a total of 3 D1 wins so far. WKU isn't going to be very good this year either so it's hypocritical but our conference just plain sucks.

With the amount of time we went to the line last night it may cause some problems. Who knows, maybe as the year goes on the refs will let the men play or the players will adapt. Last night we shot a little over 59%. That's not terrible but it isn't good either. Hopefully we can pick it up, ODU is not known historically to be a good FT shooting team...

Interesting game on Thursday. UAB is 7-0 all-time against Troy with an average margin of about 16 points per game. Blazers need to start limiting senseless turnovers, hit the easy shots at a higher percentage, and do better than 60% on FTs.

We play Jackson State at home tonight. Last year as a final parting shot at USM, Donnie Tyndall scheduled us to play them....in Jackson. We lost by twenty. Thanks again, Donnie...

this is a must win for the conference. i know troy won at south florida this weekend but south florida also lost to the new jersey institute of technology. i have no idea what south florida has but njit?

phil cunningham was a longtime assistant at mississippi state when they had some good teams and we liked him in his short stay here as an assitant at western. he was named as a top 25 assistant before he took the troy job.

i don't know if he's turning it around down there or not. i'll pull for him because i like him as a coach and he's a son of the commonwealth.

but i'll be pulling for uab in this one. we need to be beating sun belt teams. good luck blazers.

what happened at charlotte was tragic. why wasn't your coach able to keep some of the talent from transferring out? i thought charlotte had the best basketball talent in the league last year short of utep.

the freshman guard was a stud. really long athletic bigs. but ya'll threw the ball around like it was on fire.

NJIT is not a bad team. They won over 20 games last year, including @Michigan. Pomeroy has them at #152 which is squarely "Above Average"
