As a lifelong Memphian, I find it hard to believe anybody can complain about Southaven's lack of infrastructure planning.

Take a look at Memphis' interstate system and then travel to any mid-sized or large city and take a look at theirs.

There's your example of lack of planning. Southaven's problem is that they must've looked to Memphis for planning ideas instead of anywhere else in America.

I dunno. Memphis is a helluva lot easier to get around than Nashville.

Sure the interstate thing is goofy and adds time BUT Memphis has city streets that can get you across the county if needed.

You want to get from south Nashville to downtown and NOT take 65 (oh, because it's bumper to bumper)? You really can't. Nolensville Road or Franklin Pike are more congested than Germantown Pkwy. Traffic there is hot garbage and will only get worse.

Nashville is definitely bumper to bumper during rush hour. Not so much other times.

But try moving around Memphis on the interstate OR the large surface roads during rush hour. Bumper to bumper. Just like Nashville.

I'd rather have a nice interstate system.

I have no idea why anyone would live or travel to Southaven....for anything. I would rather take a trip to Atlanta or Vegas or Chicago and shop where there is mass transit or you can walk to stores.

Southaven's main problem is their corruption.

They absolutely look to Memphis for everything. Memphis builds up Starry Nights in Shelby Farms....Southaven builds up some stupid silly little light show in Central Park. Memphis has nice outdoor venue's like Mud Island....Southaven builds Snowden. Southaven builds Landers Center to grab events (not the dumbest of ideas). Southaven get the fair to the Landers Center.

Looking back, the planning fiasco that caused Sam Cooper/the North leg of the interstate was a good thing...now we have a complete loop...and a main artery straight through the city, that lets out in midtown.
