Sinister or Just Incompetence ?
Watching Bearcat and college football for many, many years. However I don't ever remember as much questionable officiating against us as this year. We certainly received the short end of the calls when we played Memphis and Houston when they were undefeated. Common sense tells you there was no sinister plot but I really think that in a subconscious way the officials decide what is best for the league is what is best for them.

Is it also just incompetence that the power conferences get the better crews compared to those doing American Conference games. I was at the game last night so I have not seen replays but there were many questionable calls that left me shaking my head. Among them a very iffy pass interference on us where the ball was well out of bounds and it was basic officiating 101 that the refs should have allowed us to match substitutions on the 4th down play. The refs had a long conference after Tommy gave them hell on that and I believe they know they messed up .

I thought we got a lot of favorable calls 2013-14. The fumble reversal at Memphis and the no call on false start at Houston
almost makes me want watch another JFK/Grassy Knoll/CIA/Mafia/Conspiracy show.

My vote is for incompetence of the officials but either way it's been costly for UC. While the AAC might not care much for UC given the University's expressed desire to catch the first train out of Dodge, it's hard to imagine that any given official is making conscious decisions in the heat of the battle to take away victories. But that doesn't make it any less frustrating.

A little of both. It is my understanding the AAC has among the least experienced crews in CFB. The better officials want to call P5 games because it pays better. The MAC and MWC have been around for a while so their officials have been doing it for years. We are stuck with newbies.

We hate the conference and the conference hates us. The fix at the end of the Memphis game was premeditated using replay. It wasn't a mistake.

Reversing the fumble against Memphis was so jarring. Whether a sinister plot or incompetence someone should have lost their job and the conference should have issued an apology.
