And I'm going to say it, since no one else will: stAte would crush GS if they played this year. Bottom line. I said it before the year started and I'll say it again: any team with the talent and athleticism to stop the option will take one-dimensional GS to the woodshed. That's what happened at both West Virginia and Appalachian State, and what's going to happen at Georgia. Call me a homer, but I've been saying it since the board was full of people saying GS was going to beat WV and it's held water thus far.

astate has played well and certainly earned the position of being at the top of the sunbelt conference, but to say astate would "crush" ga southern reminds me of the saying that its better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.

you should win out the rest of your conference games and i'll certainly congratulate you for being conference champs! glad we get to play each other in 2016.

C'mon, man. The computer models are NEVER highly accurate. That's just silly. Especially Massey/Sagarin. Literally no one takes them seriously. They satisfy numerical curiosity at best.

Massey composite is a good benchmark of relative strength based on performance because it includes so many sources. I take Massey and Sagarin seriously, but not too seriously. The problem is that people are flat stupid about probabilities and are emotional about objective systematic ratings.

Those computer ratings/rankings are logical and indicative, but they have their limitations . . . like Fredi missing 3 or so games likely not being accounted for.

I'm beginning to regret that App took a knee on the one at the end of the game with the gnats.

Georgia Southern better be able to beat South Alabama. That would be very worrisome if they didn't.

I'd almost rate them ahead of App right now because App's injury issues.

In college football, home field advantage is bigger than any other sport. I put major emphasis on road wins. Arkie State has a very good road win. But, the transverse is true. They have a really bad home loss.

Which it is why it is a huge fallacy Alabama is in the "playoffs". A home loss should trumps all when there are other undefeated teams. Especially to a mediocre team like Ole Miss

The good news is we can lose one more conference game and still rank ourselves above an undefeated Ark St. Well, that is if you use the logic of most App St fans at the end of last year.

Ok, ok, we kneeled it at the 9 after stepping back a few yards to kill the last few seconds.

RE: New Power Rankings: 11-15-15
Most certainly need to give Arkansas State it's due. They are undefeated in conference play and unless NMSU or TxSt pull off a miracle it looks like they are a shoo-in to win the outright title this year. Plus they are scoring in bunches.

As far as Power rankings go I view it as the way teams are playing right now with most recent games carrying more weight than early in the season. So. Here is my take...

1. Arkansas State (no doubt their offense is on fire and they have a top 5 defense in the Belt)
2. App State (They punched us in the mouth, but injuries the last few weeks have slowed them down, so the gap is closing)
3. GS (We are currently tied with App state for the #1 defense and our OL is starting to pick up blitzes (what killed us at WVU and App))
4. USA (Your loss to TxSt is a head scratcher, but you're a few changes on defense away from being at the top, your RB is GOOD)
5. ULL (Sometimes consistency is hard to find when you're going through a QB change, and poor EM cant get his OL to block for him)
6. Troy (I personally think you're a better team than Ga State but we'll find out next weekend)
7. Ga State (Playing better football, this is higher than I thought you'd be at this point in the season)
8. Idaho (Offense is dangerous when healthy, but that seems to be a problem)
9. NMSU (About where I thought you'd be just didn't expect the teams below you to be who they are)
10. TXST (I feel your sentiments... Fran's gotta go, losing all those defensive standouts without depth behind them has killed your team)
11. ULM (What on earth happened?)

A "bad home loss" to the defending SEC east champs. By one TD.
