No question we lack depth and a lot of elite level athletes. That is something that has always been a difference between the Boise States and the Alabamas of the world.

With that, take away a bad fourth quarter interception or make the final filled goal and our team beats an undefeated ranked Houston team on the road to get to 9-1.

Yes...lack of that depth may have contributed to the game being just within reach by Houston, but this is who we are.

Moving forward, hopefully our fan base remains stronger, he SMU game is well attended, and we set the stage for attracting higher level recruits who are willing to buy in here. I am not a big recruiting follower, but didn't we just sign a three start kid also being recruited by Moo? More of that will help, but what we do have has been pretty damn good.

All you folks who sit on your butts watching a few football games and then think that makes you qualified to be give advise to our coach about how he recruits and who he needs to hire or fire is simply ridiculous.

We are 8-2 and would be 9-1 except for a couple of miscues and a missed field goal that Jake will make 9 out of 10 times.

I love this coach, his staff and our team. Would not trade the for anything and look forward to great things ahead. You complainers have very short memories about where this program was a few short years ago. If you can't find anything else to do but gripe about this fine season, then you have waaaaay too much time on your hands,

Most of porter's defensive players are gone and fuente has not replaced them with equal or better talent. I'm sorry but this years team has two big problems. 1. Our defensive coordinator isn't up to the job. He called another bad game. On Houston's game winning drive he played a zone and let Houston pick us a part. But when we had the ball last Houston wasn't gonna let Paxton beat them and they did a good job. 2. This defense has zero talent/difference makers. I only see one and that's Avery.

The recruiting on that side of the ball has been very poor. Walk ons are fine sometimes. But you got get some high quality no doubt players. Fuente(if he stays) is gonna have to stop focusing on the walk ons and the hard working two stars and get some high quality three stars or this will keep happening.

Coach Fuente won 10 games last year and will probably win 11 games this year with his walk ons. This is a stupid post.

Beyond stupid.

One miracle at a time, please.

That said, our defensive backfield...jeez. Shore that up and we are dangerous.

Why do we continue to put these guys on an island while rushing 3? If the corners are 1 on 1, what the other 6 guys doing. Obviously not much. I've never seen more situations where we rush 3, and have a corner beat deep or be in a 1/1 situation. Where is the safety help? Rushing 3 means you are playing something like a cover 2, yet we are constantly getting beat/flagged on the deep passes on the edge.

Bad schemes or terrible implementation.

I would like to see any other coach inherit the mess that Fuente took over and recruit any better. The image of Memphis football had hit rock-bottom. Anyone with an ounce of commonsense knows that a school's reputation has as much to do with recruiting success as salesmanship.

New flash. We just hired a new DC and Head Recruiter. The posters on Dockery-Finch Memorial Tiger Sports Forum and they will do it without pay.

Coach Fuentr entered after four of our worst years in program history. Only had 55 scholarship players, four of which were.kickers.

Yeah, 3* always beat out 2* because Paxtton Lynch, Jake Elliot, Martin Ifedi, Jackson Dillon and Sam Craft all suck.

Porter's classes were head and shoulders better than fuente. Porter landed really good classes after 1-11 and 2-10 seasons so please give the tired excuses a break. Porter couldn't coach worth a crap but he could recruit. Fuente is a hellava coach but his recruiting especially on the defensive side of the ball is questionable at best.

As Annie Lavoy so eloquently put it: Honey, would you rather I were making love to him using your name, or making love to you using his name?

Seems to me Porter coached his "really good classes" down and Fuente is coaching his "questionable" players up.

I'd rather have the latter.

RE: Poor recruiting has caught up to fuente
At the beginning of last season most of our fans were hoping to see "signs of improvement" and to go at or barely above 500. Some even said it was a make or break year for this staff and HC. 18-5, AAC championship, bowl win and a top 25 finish later, and he can't recruit?!?! He got steals on J. Henderson, J. Gentry and D. Kyser and already has a DB committed that has SEC offers. Maybe it's still part of the rebuilding process and he's done more with less?!?!
Of course, it's just easier to b!tch.

That's not good. He's about the only true playmaker on defense. Maybe he can play with a club
