I would have a blast in Birmingham. Those who look down on it should remember all the years when we sat at home. Wherever we go, I'll be there and those who want to join the Big 12 would be wise to do the same. Travel reputation is an important measuring stick.

Legion Field is the structural embodiment of a stray mutt spontaneously catching itself on fire.

It's only 3 hours from Memphis...tickets are cheap (30 bucks)...it's an 11am game, so fans can drive home after it's over...SEC opponent...1 million dollar payout.

go eat at Dreamland and Saws BBQ, watch us beat up an SEC team, and be happy the Tigers are in a bowl.

How many did we have in Houston ? It was hard to tell the way they had us scattered. I thought they were going to give me a helmet with a red light on the top of it to protect me from airplanes flying over the stadium.

Not a bad city.

Not an engaging city. Has parts of the worst parts of Memphis without a lot of redeeming characteristics. Has a couple affluent "mountain" neighborhoods, crumbling Legion Field, bad traffic at times, a lack of nightlife and quality restaurants, and crime. It does have lovely Birmingham-Southern and a wonderful Episcopal church downtown.

And oh, it also has UAB.....

I'd say at least 2500 - 3000. A lot of blue sprinkled on visitors side to.
I know the alumni party was packed.

Would be quite pleasant kicking the crap out of Utk, Moo, Mizzou, Auburn or Joja in Birmingham. Difficult matchup with A&M or pigs. Would not be Alabama, Florida, LSU or the sharkbears.

Agree with the above in terms of what to do in Birmingham. It is absolutely not Memphis, not even close in terms of culture, pubs, and charm. Is there anything even remotely in the same universe as Beale Street? Or just a bunch of random onion ring stands?
