We all know 1 is too many...

When they are scattered throughout the administration, yes 1 more is too many.

Every complaint about the NAS is a symptom of one bigass problem. It's an arm of the university and not an independent body.

Word on the street is that Becky Watson got fired today. Haven't seen any confirmation yet, though.

It's confirmed. Her visage has disappeared from all UAB directories, and Jennifer Breland is now listed as the executive director:

For those of us not in the know & not familiar with Becky Watson, any basic statements as to why it is good that she is gone?

I'll take a swat at it.

She had been there a long time, and she acted like she owned the place. She was haughty and arrogant - there were basically the NAS nobility (the board and the big donors) and the peons (the guys in green shirts, who paid their dues but didn't donate a lot, like me). It was not difficult to watch her and tell what her assessment of those she dealt with was.

She had a reputation for being difficult, both with the members and particularly with the staff.

I know that at recent meetings her disdain for the riff-raff that FreeUAB brought into her NAS was barely hidden.

I hope this turn of events doesnt interfere with Jennifer's long awaited vacation.

I have been generally treated well by Becky. I have seen the other side of her. I was at the NAS meeting where she handled it about as bad as she could. I ran into her after some NAS event and made the statement Watts needs to go. She actually asked me why. I was so mad and dumbfounded I was literally at a loss for words. WTF! I told her he had lied to the faculty, staff, students and Alumni, that he had damaged UAB reputation and several other things. Ms Engineer said after that she had not ever seen me that mad

Any idea why she was fired ?

I've heard rumors. Something to do with how she treated her staff.

I suspect that there are a lot of people who are curious about that.
