Not my definition of "not making the plays"...

He jumped on MT90's Lynch is garbage bandwagon and is trying to justify it instead of admitting he was wrong

Lynch was unconcious until the last two or three games. He's still playing well just not beastmode right now. I think it falls as much on the coaching staff than anything though. Don't tell me you haven't questioned the play calling when we get a lead and the stupid prevent not to lose defense with an entire quarter to go.

Bottom line is we blew a huge lead giving up 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Somebody needs to step up and give us an explanation for that.

Explanation: Our defense has 8 new players. Lets just go ahead and buy out Fuente's contract because he sucks because we lost 2 games in a row. Most people on this board were predicting a 7-5 or 8-4 season but now people think we should be in the national playoffs. Come back down to earth. We are a pretty good team but not a great team but we are a year away from being real good. At least we are better than Ole Miss. 2 games to go plus a bowl game. Could be 11 and 2. I will take that. As coach West said how Memphis has a negative element unlike he has ever seen. This was our game and yes we blew it but it is better than being 4 and 6 or 6 and 4. Please fans don't say screw this team and not show up for the SMU game. They deserve better from our us.

When a team blows a 20 point lead in fourth quarter for first time in 262 games in college football, the coach has to answer for that. Not negativity but facts. Why get so conservative? Did it 2-3 other times this year that almost cost us. Fact is 34 points for us puts us at 5-5 in this years games. Have to throw the damn ball down the field. That what Lynch does so well.

Well, something needs to be done about Ball. He is gonna get charges brought against him someday with that calf-roping BS move he likes to do after tackling a guy by the legs. I've seen him do it in 3 games at least, one time out of bounds a few games ago. I see that and I am not proud to be a Tiger at that moment.

Yeah. Pretty dirty. But you've got to realize who you're dealing with here..

The play calling was so bad at times tonight...

A pitch inside our 22.
A short pass over the middle by Paxton into coverage and straight to a Houston LB..
The overall way we played the 2nd half.

We still can't defend the pass to save our lives. Instead of bringing pressure and sticking to what was working, Scott gets SCARED anytime we play someone who can throw the ball. Fire him tonight. Make him walk back to Memphis.

Had Ward stayed in we'd have won by 40.

Nothing left to play for this season other than double digit wins.

Book your Birmingham Bowl tickets now.

Still pretty heady stuff for Memphis football, considering that we've only done it once since 1938.

Sure.... Not as if that stat even matters.

Quit living in the past. Same stupid arguments used in basketball. Just stop...

At the beginning of the season saying us winning 10 with losses only to Navy and Houston would have been great.

But, once you get to 8-0 with wins over Cincy, Ole Miss, BGSU. You start looking ahead to maybe something special.

We took one on the chin against Navy, got it. Still have a chance by beating Houston.

We were up 20 IN THE 4TH QTR...

We called a stupid pitch inside our 22...

Lynch threw the dumbest pass he's thrown all season.

We dropped 2 interceptions.

We stopped getting pressure on the Houston QB. (We didn't get stopped) (We just stopped)

We sat back and left Houston WR's WIDE OPEN.

Maulet still can't defend the long ball.

We have the ball inside FG range with 30+ seconds left and a timeout, ad Lynch throws 2 passes in a row. THE ISSUE is why was he passing at all? We're already in FG range. All we have to do is CENTER the ball and try to get a few more yards.

Memphis was the better team 100% tonight. Our defensive Scheme SUCKED once Postma came in.

Offensively, our play calling became very questionable, we went conservative too early.

Don't even get me started on the kneel down to end the 1st half.

We're up 13. On our 30. 2 timeouts left and 30 seconds remaining. We didn't even try anything.

Several people have been saying that conservative **** was gonna cost us. Bet Fuente would have gladly taken a FG there now.

We have go to stop stopping ourselves, period...

We game planed to play conservative the entire game. We had a large lead with the conservative game plan. Before the last driver we had ran it 54 times to 25 passes in order to control clock. We did the same thing to them that Navy did to us until the last half of the 4th quarter. We controlled the ball and limited their touches.

The main difference is that Ward could not hit the side of a barn tonight and the backup could. Just one more first down in any of the three back to back to back series late in the 4th and we win.

Fuente, Lynch and Scott cost us that game. PERIOD..

They game planned for Ward got it. Drive the ball, keep him off the field. When a QB comes in who can CLEARLY pass the ball, Scott DID what Scott ALWAYS does. He stopped bringing pressure, and the defense sat back SCARED of the long ball. Yes, they got tired, the offense screwed them over on back to back possessions... Still doesn't change the fact Houston had WR's 7-15 yards from the los sitting there wide open, or all of the miscommunication, or any of the NUMEROUS other issues they had. Like dropping an interception with 3 minutes to go, on a drive HOUSTON took the LEAD on.. The secondary looked like they were asleep.

As far as the offense goes, they blew it big time and the play calling as ass. Also, EVEN WITH all of the mistakes. We had a chance to win. We put Elliot in a position to kick a FG from the FAR LEFT HASH when we were in FG range on 2nd down WITH a TIMEOUT.

All we had to do was RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE TWICE. If we don't GAIN anything WE'RE ALREADY in FG range. AT LEAST we would have CENTERED the ball for him. The last 2 plays were horrible. We had about 5 yards to play with. NORMALLY, you get with your kicker and ask them where they want the ball. WHICH Clearly DIDN'T happen either.

I'm done commenting on the conservative ****. It's been stated by numerous people during several games that it would eventually bite us.

You do not stop yourself. Period. You don't settle up 20 with 14:30 remaining in the game on the road against a ranked team. Yes, I know the 2 turnovers hurt, but seriously... a pitch inside our 22... A short pass over the middle into coverage and where their LB Howard was sitting at waiting? Those turnovers were avoidable and 1 was unforced... You never pitch or throw the ball backwards inside you're on 25... They tried to get cute and it cost them.

It's over now, so it is what it is... Hopefully they get past Temple and SMU. Can still win 11 games.

So why not run the plays you have had success with all night instead of trying to out smart the other guys.

Did you not see Dorceus stopped in his tracks on his last run inside? Stopped for no gain the Lynch scrambled for 5 yard gain before throwing a pass to no one on third and five.

Yes. And I saw him stopped other times as well. Yet I saw him gain almost 120 yards running inside.

That's fine. We were already in FG range. So you do it again. Worst case if your kicking a 47-48 yard FG with the ball centered. Chances are he picked up 1-3 yards and it turns into a 44-46 yard FG with the ball centered. Best case is he break one for a TD or a big gain and it's a chip shot. You definitely don't call a pass play that is going to take time to develop KNOWING Houston is going to blitz on 3rd down and force you to 1. Make a bad throw or 2 throw it out of bounds. Elliot had to kick a FG from 47-48 from the far left hash. From that distance pushing just a little bit will make a huge difference. As you saw when it went wide right. He pushed it too much. It all make a difference.

I know you like to defend everything Memphis all the time, but you can't defend that play calling. Nothing you say will make any sense.

The last domino fell, my friends. We lost. Cause and effect just doesn't play out in simplistic ways. That's why pointing to a few details and saying that they were a mistake doesn't really make it so.

Night everybody. Sleep well and Go tigers.

Next Sunday has potential for a better outcome. :) Stay strong.
