CAA Basketball

Not to dampen things, but keep in mind 7 of those wins are against non D-I foes.

The league is currently 22-19 against D-I and the 10th-ranked conference by RPI.

Yeah, a more realistic look for sure, but keep in mind, what the league's record USUALLY is this time of year... and 10th is much better than the 15th-16th we usually are ranked during OOC.

Drexel falls. JMU up big on Marshall at the half, and Elon behind 4 to A&M-Corpus Christi with about 10 left.

A real battle in the CAA game this season...W&M, NE, JMU and Hofstra; every game will be a battle.

Elon lost to Syracuse last week. Are there any others?

CAA has games remaining against UVA and Michigan State. Win either of those, and we're in for a special year. Also have games remaining against LSU, G'town and one more against Miami. Not as big, but still would look great.

Richmond beat #14 Cal tonight. Not CAA, but JMU beat them and they play ODU, so they affect our RPI and conference RPI more than others.

NU has a game at NC State the end of December as well.

Alabama knocked off #20 Wichita State, which makes our Dayton loss better.

I wouldn't count UNCW out. We've got a really deep bench, and we're pressing, trapping and getting out on the break far more than last year. And, we're a better team offensively.

Drexel's gotta fire their entire training staff sooner or later, I feel like every year they lost major players to injuries.

We have been saying this for years, to no avail. I am sure we will lose someone else for the season before too long. Our transfer from Utah Fields is likely out until Christmas.

Not a good start for the dragons. They spotted AA 10 points to start the game.

I guess the bright side is although it's bad PR if they lose, it wouldn't factor in to RPI.
The worst part is that we were only 3.5 point favorites over them, which is very telling. Also many of our fans did not have a good feeling going into that game. San Diego though, this season now has the potential to be of epic proportions Towson style. Losses to St Joes, High Point, and Monmouth were excusable since they are decent/good teams. Losses to Asheville, Anchorage and San Diego, major problems here with no end in sight. We are clearly the conference dreg this year. The rule changes have hampered Bruiser's coaching style immensely, and we wont change so we will foul 20+ times a game and continue to not win games. Im hoping we can win our first game on 1/2 at Elon, and if we dont win that one, it could be awhile before the dragons sniff victory.

I think the same 4 teams will battle it out again this season. That's a good thing.

I agree. There's no reason to think so far that any of them will experience a drop off from last year's success.

Not CAA, but of interest, Dayton lost by 29 to #23 Xavier. Loss probably expected, but that's ugly.

Nothing helps the RPI like good wins and nothing hurts like bad losses. The Tribe dropped from in the low 30's to in the 60's with the loss to Howard.

If I remember how RPI is calculated, your performance against a good or bad team is irrelevant. We get credit for winning or losing, and then the other teams record (and opponents' opponents as well) are factored in. So while a loss to Howard to an NCAA selection committee may appear as a bad loss, it only affects our RPI as a loss; and since it's a road loss I think it even hurts a bit less. Howard would be factored into our RPI because we've now played them, so our RPI was going to drop regardless.
