New Baseball Stadium For UL
Don't know if this posted here yet, but on the bright side for us (and we need it today, lol) plans for the new baseball stadium are released. And we are very pleased.

I think this has been posted before, last baseball season some time.

You guys have definitely invested in the athletic arms race, and getting some nice facilities.

The latest rendering....which are the final plans and us what is going to be built....has virtually no resemblance to what was in the master plan. It will be much nicer than what was first proposed.

If you're asking about the Cajuns, we never have had tailgating in the outfield. We have a cooking club who cooks for the team each game (and opponents for night games) and a regular tailgating group "Cajun Tails" which is across the street from the stadium. Those won't be going anywhere.

Actually, it has not been 'officially' released yet. Coach Robe presented the pic above at this weeks Diamond Club social, and it was then posted on FB, then on RP. So we don't have all the facts. I was told from a good source that the capacity would be in the 5K to 5.8K range.

And all kidding aside, it will be one of the best in the country. Some may be larger, but very few better.

My guess would be between 4500 and 5000.

If memory serves, we averaged around 3600 this past year. So, after winning the CWS, yeah, we'll need something in the 5K range.02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana

Looks like Coastal's which is really nice.
They use the upper level picnic area for VIP tailgating it is next to the football stadium.

RE: New Baseball Stadium For UL
well, most SEC stadiums I believe hold between 8-12 thousand, with LSU I think, over 20?, not real sure, just know its one of the biggest. One reason I was happy with App joining the SBC is that the baseball programs are some of the best, probably the best of the mid majors, and can compete with the larger programs. The SoCon always had strong programs, but the SBC takes it to a new level. My brother played collage ball, then had a 14 year career as a pitcher in the majors, so baseball has/is a big part of my family, App has a nice facility, but no where near what the top SBC schools have, if we want to be able to compete with you guys, we eventually must improve ours, but, with all the other things that must be done first, it will be quite a while before they get to baseball improvements.

Wow, a brother who pitched in the majors for 14 years!!! 04-cheers Bet you've got some interesting tales to tell.

Obviously, regardless of facitlies, any program can compete with support from the top, a good coach, and loyal fans. Cajun baseball facilities, like most of our other facilities until recently, aren't a dump by any means, but are way over due for an upgrade. Coach Robe has earned this one and we all believe it will help greatly as we try to maintain the quality of Ragin Cajun baseball. Good luck this season.

RE: New Baseball Stadium For UL
yep, he has told me a few, saw him pitch in Wrigley, sitting right behind the home plate, saw him pitch to Sosa, got him out 2 out of 3 bats, unfortunately, 3rd time, Sosa hit it about 500 ft dead center field, what can you do, Brian said that was the biggest man, muscle wise, he had ever pitched to.
