You guys have definitely invested in the athletic arms race, and getting some nice facilities.
The latest rendering....which are the final plans and us what is going to be built....has virtually no resemblance to what was in the master plan. It will be much nicer than what was first proposed.

What was released was renderings and a schematic design. These plans aren't final, trust me. Schematic design is the first stage in the process. Next is design development, then construction docs. The design development package (next step) hasn't even been completed yet, and won't be until the end of the year. But hopefully the architect is able to get the basic tenets of this design/rendering to work with the budget he has, because the renderings do look very nice.

One reason I was happy with App joining the SBC is that the baseball programs are some of the best, probably the best of the mid majors, and can compete with the larger programs. The SoCon always had strong programs, but the SBC takes it to a new level. My brother played collage ball, then had a 14 year career as a pitcher in the majors, so baseball has/is a big part of my family, App has a nice facility, but no where near what the top SBC schools have, if we want to be able to compete with you guys, we eventually must improve ours, but, with all the other things that must be done first, it will be quite a while before they get to baseball improvements.

The larger SEC venues are in the 8-12 range. Alex Box is in that range. I think Miss St. has the highest max capacity for an on campus site. A team isn't playing in a 20K+ venue unless it's some sort of shared facility with a pro club.

Speaking of pro, were the Drillers the last farm club to play in Lafayette? I was a big fan of that team, Jack Clark in particular at 3rd.

The "Bayou Bullfrogs" played in the Tigue in the late 90s. UL was pretty good back then and they really could not draw for a mediocre minor league team. I think they moved the frachise to Beaumont and then I am not sure what happened to it after that. (but I do not think they are in Beaumont anymore)

There are some pretty detailed drawing in addition to the renderings. Just saying.

They also know the exact footprint because new light will be installed in December. What we end up with look very close to this. There may be minor details that are changed inside along the way but from what I've been told, this is pretty close to finished product, at least the look.

Detail (in addition to beauty) is in the eye of the beholder. You don't think I've seen the drawings? These aren't the "final" product as what was stated. It's schematic design. Schematic design is often the first of three or four design submittals that are made in a large scale project like this. First is schematic design, which is what you guys saw. Next is design development which is due in a little over a month. And last is construction documents aka CD's (sometimes there is a 90% CD set submitted prior to a 100% sealed CD set).

In addition, I'm not optimistic that the relocation of the poles will be happening in the next month. It will be super last minute (think late January) or delayed to after the season ends.

I realize its only 6 years old and the attendance doesn't warrant anything bigger or better at this time but I cringe when it is compared to some of the facilities our conference mates have. That said, We went from a sandlot field (seriously) to what we have now and even that took a large donation and having to pull Teis along for the ride to even get it done. They have had plans for a baseball/softball locker room (etc) facility but it is now at a 10 mil price tag and without donor monies it sits on the back burner to other campus improvements. I think that with the addition we could add more seating but it's not going to be anytime soon.

CM, if I'm remembering correctly, UTSA has a really spartan facility. I believe we opened our season there last year and one of their posters from the C-USA board posted some photos. I might see if I can find those pics.

their ballpark is kinda like a little league or sandlot field but they have access to a nearby minor league type facility.

They use Wolfe Stadium, home of the AA San Antonio Missions. Nice venue. They use for big opponents and they used it for their early season tournament a few years ago when the Cajuns played in it.
I suspect they also have plans for a new on campus stadium in the future at their athletic complex (which is very new).

I know this is old but someone had taken photos of the latest baseball stadium renderings outside Tigue Moore field so I thought I would add them to the old thread.

Is the plans going to be held back by any of the financial problems the state is facing?

No, it's being built with donations

All of the athletic master plan construction (including the Tigue Moore renovations) will be done with donated funds or bonds guaranteed by income from suites or other sport specific revenue that doesn't currently exist.

The baseball renovations have been done in part with the installation of a totally new lighting system sized for the size of the new stadium and grandstand canopy which means the ones behind the grandstand are VERY tall. The new grandstand construction is slated to start as soon as possible after this season ends with the hope of having it finished by the start of next year. Fingers crossed for lots of good weather from June 2016 to February 2017.

In other baseball news CCU just knocked off UNC in Chapel Hill. Probably our best win of the season.

And Louisiana just squeezed a win against a very good Nichols state team.....so we are 2-0 against them this year. Cardiac Cajuns indeed.....GEAUX UL!

Lost your mind if you thought Nichols was good at 14-20 and an rpi in the 200+ range.

We beat Southern Ill yesterday. They had an above .500 record. Really don't know how good they are but we won a baseball game.....Wow.

I think it's safe to say that the top 4 nicest baseball stadiums in the SBC will be Louisiana, Troy, Coastal Carolina, and South Alabama... in no particular order.

Oh, we could put that into a very particular order. LOL. But thanks for the compliment, :-)
