Marshall is not in the same league as NIU...prior to 2012 it had been 10 years since Marshall won 10 or more games and had only 3 winning seasons in that time. We can re-evaluate in 3 years.

NIU did not have a deep passing game last season, we all know that. It was not coaching but a RS sophomore QB that limited NIU's offense and they still won the MACC. I'd call that very good coaching.
If you took an objective look, you would see that the coaches has NIU in a position to win both OSU, BC and CMU. It was poor execution(presnap penalties, dropped passes, unforced TO's etc) in each game that doomed NIU.

You can do all the comparisons you want, blame the coaching all you want,
every play has a 50/50 chance of being a failure or a success.

One of the all time great coaching accomplishments that I have seen in over 40 years of watching the program was coach Tuke's victory in the Potato Bowl. He got everyone fired up and ready for the win. I still remember him saying no one and that included coaches and players were allowed on the plane unless they were all in and committed to the victory. He willed us to a win in that game.

Bad moon, NIU isn't in he league of Boise as a program yet but to say they're not in the same league as Marshall is ludicrous.

Looks Marshall was better than NIU last year, plain and simple. That game should have been closer than it was, stats were close but when you can't bang it in inside the 25 you're going to lose. That was Marshalls best time since probably Leftwich and maybe since Moss was on the roster. However, that program doesn't challenge itself in the out of conference. They're out of conference opponents that are Power 5 since 2012 are VT, WV, Purdue (2). They've won one of those vs Purdue at home this year.

They've played four P5 teams in that span is a joke.

As for Boise, they play a tougher schedule than NIU and are producing more pros.

I get people are pissed about the bowl games and being 7-3 this year but this is what at best NIUs either worst or second worst team in 6 years. Toledo fans are fawning over their 8-1 team, BG has its best team since like 03. Memphis and Temple are flashes in the pan for tho year and Memphis last year.

Outside of Boise NIU has the most consistentcy as a non power player in college football.

I would be a tuke supporter. Spoke with him several times when he was here and although he was a goofball...he did it with still having the respect of players

Common opponents in different years isn't as good as playing each other the same year. NIU beat Toledo each year Carey has coached. And the last 2 years Toledo supposedly had the best team. You would rather lose to Toledo and not win the West and beat Arkansas?

Comparing opponents in different years is a beyond laughable way to compare teams. Teams can change drastically in a four week time span, let alone 52+ weeks. It's kind of funny how much people care about winning an OOC game or a bowl game. I guarantee you if we went 7-6 with wins @Arkansas and in our bowl game last year the same people would be bitching about how we got demolished by crappy MAC teams and can't even win a bad conference. There are some people who just want to ***** and moan constantly. They aren't happy with a team that has more wins than 110+ other programs in the last 5 years.
