This has got to be one of the worst days in the history of their athletic program. I know you can't relate because it's basketball, but it can pretty much be broke down for you like this.....Southern Miss hires a new president and immediately butts heads with Coach Bower. The end result being the president basically saying, "You know what, screw this.....Jeff, I know you've had (however many) consecutive winning seasons here at USM, but it's time for you to pack your bags and get out of Hattiesburg.."

.....and RIGHT BEFORE FOOTBALL SEASON STARTED!!!!

So maybe if you look at it that way, you'll get some idea as to how the Bearcat faithful are feeling right now. They just lost their identity, and I couldn't feel any worse for them.
Oh come on, this was hardly a shock. This fight between a pres and coach has been going on for a long time. The fact is that Huggins has consistently taken short cuts, his personal conduct has been less than exemplary, and it's hardly a surprise that a president eventually wouldn't put up with it.

Huggins walks with $3 million - dont' feel sorry for him.

Cincy will have to probably interim coach it this year, but they'll get a fine coach for next year. They have a program, not just a team. We've all lost good coaches. They can deal with it.

I certainly have no interest in giving cincy fans sh%% about it, it's a bummer for them, but hardly the worst thing that has every happened.
Bingo. Look at the schools who have lost big time coaches of the last few years and were able to replace them with outstanding coaches later, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, UAB, Charlotte, Marquette, etc., etc. Hopefully Tulsa gets back on track, they were a cradle of coaches and it's fun having them be a Top 25 club, I always like watching them play, even if UC lost to them.
