Just kidding :-). I am proud of the women's team and the job a real coach with an exciting system can do. The men need to duplicate the women's strategy.
One thing about the women (and sports in general):
Folks have a habit (I think bad) of assuming because a team played very well last year that they will again this year.
I'm not sure in MAC women's hoops that there is a 'dynasty' or near dynasty or a repeat champion type scenario.
Our women are good but let's try not to read too much into the late season run last year.
The team was on a 'mission' the last six or eight weeks.
Will they have the same high level of energy, purpose, etc. this season? Who knows?
I like to think in terms of probabilities. E.g., EMU might be a 33% chance of winning the MAC West. That means a 67% chances of not.
Or think of a 20-horse field in the Kentucky Derby. The 'favorite' might have 20% chance of winning. Twenty percent might make a horse the 'favorite' but also means the horse has an 80% chance of getting beaten.
'Favorite' and 'likely' are not synonyms. Likely implies more than a 50% chance. The 'favorite' in the KY Derby is also a 'likely loser.'
