With that being said, I can't wait to see him play on Friday. The rest of the team as well. Lots of talent...let's see how it comes together.

My guess is that he'll be a big, agile post player who will be a factor on defense but will progress offensively (other than the obligatory dunks - the ones Super likes. Lol).

But that is okay. We've long had minimal expectations for scoring centers so 6 ppg wouldn't disappoint.

RE: EMU Basketball Preview
I think if Thompson keeps his head on straight the upside on him will be very impressive.

EMU Basketball Preview
Is Thompson the first LA player at EMU since Prillman?

Price can improve his shooting by taking better shots. Needs to avoid jacking up 25 ft threes every chance he gets.

Agreed. And by actually setting his feet. Watching him shoot against Oakland and Michigan, and then watching him shoot the rest of last season...it's day and night. All fundamentals and all in his head. He's a good shooter, just needs to fine tune some things.

Personally, I think Perry is a better shooter and should get 10 minutes a game at least to provide that threat. Mangum sounds like he can fill it up too. Luckily we won't have to rely on just Price as an outside threat.

Indeed, we have been asleep on Perry.

When we do a count of players by position we seem to overlook him, but he is what a redshirt soph so he has plenty of opportunity to develop.

He could be one of those players whose ave goes 2, 4, 6, and 8 over his career (or something similar like 2, 4, 5, 6).

Essentially a role player who will be good for 4 - 6 points most nights later in his career. Maybe even this year??????

The issue with Thompson may be controlling his fouls there's isn't much in the way of backups. The past two years we've used a three center muscle rotation. Wonder where Noble fits in here?

Think I should just read the Blue Ribbon Yearbook: Nobles will back up both Thompson and Nazione.

I just read that LWH was expected to compete with Thompson for starting center position (before his academic problems).

Good article. Thanks, Steve.

It is interesting to me that there was such a big write up on Price who is should be serving a back up role. coaching staff must still be high on him. I bet we see him him spelling the big men a lot. He is probably a collegiate level 3/4 position, but might have to be a 4/5 given the make up of this team. If his shot is back, could be a nice stretch big man.

Also interesting that Murphy spells out that Bond will be Small Forward. This must be devestating for you Steve!03-lmfao

Interesting relationship, did not think of it. I hope Thompson will be as good as Prillman.

Is Perry needed with the log jam at the 1-3 positions? He might not even get the 10 minutes per game.

Funny. :)

I still maintain that Bond could be a very good PG, but we have three other PG, Toney, EA, Stone, etc. yet only one true SF, Bond.

As posters have noted, this squad is very backcourt heavy. Not a lot of true 3, 4, and 5 players on this team.

I don't think you can ever have enough shooting. Perry is a strong defender and knows the zone too. I guess I'll wait and see what the new guys look like, but I think Perry deserves minutes. Especially with how he played at the end of last season.

Perry might get minutes behind Bond. He's not tall, but as you indicate he fits the Murphy zone defense.

The article referred to Bond as a point guard last year. I don't think that is an accurate description of what actually happened. But the reference shows you are not alone in your thoughts on Bond's point guard capabilities.

Regardless, the good news is there are no rules that will restrict him from passing the ball from a small forward position.
