RE: Kent State @ Southern Illinois
Free Throw Shooting wouldn't be such a cause for concern if it was not a reoccurring theme. To suggest that in March at Quicken Loans Arena the Golden Flashes will all of a sudden shoot 75% from the free throw line is silly. In fact, it cheapens the body of work that lies ahead of them. I understand the comment that this is not an at large team....KSU is not part of an at large league. But if KSU Basketball is going to be considered a prominent mid- major for years to come, winning games like last night's at Southern Illinois would go a long way. Let alone not letting clunkers from the free throw line allow a team like Bowling Green, Miami or Northern Illinois to come to the MAC Center and knock them off. So yes, pumping the breaks and not freaking out over the loss is obvious. But not discussing the 2 million pound elephant in the room is a loser's mentality.

The well justified cause for concern is that this team, as talented as they are, will lose games like last night's due to lack of improvement in one of the most simple areas of basketball.

Nice job by the Flashes hanging tough on the road. On to the next one!

Yeah, the free throw shooting stunk, but looking for positives, we were able to battle back from being down by 11, and make it close in the end. Where was Kellon Thomas' final 3 point shot from? Was he remotely close to tying up the game at the end?

KT had good look from corner, hit backside of rim and SIU rebounded.

We knew going in this team will have it's ups and downs. long term we will be fine. just have to clean up the FT and missed layups

Last night was an example of those growing pains that dannyb mentioned in another thread. At least, I hope it was just growing pains and not what could end up being all-season-long pains.
