If they can pull it off, great, but under current NCAA rules you can't create a new FBS conference unless it's split off from an existing FBS conference. And it has to be more than just a couple teams, so Idaho and NMSU couldn't pull out of the Sun Belt and invite a bunch of schools into a new conference. It's all actually very difficult to do.

Of course, rules can always be changed, but I don't know what incentive the existing FBS schools would have to allow the creation of another FBS conference.

It would happen when the split between P and G happens. All those rules will be thrown out when that happens.

I am still not convinced that we are going to run Idaho and NMSU off. It's certainly possible, but it's going to come down to the votes. It's not unanimous either way for sure.

Long term Idaho isn't a viable option for the SBC. With uncertainty around their long term place it will be difficult to build a successful enough program to warrant inclusion in a southern based conference.

They're in a tough position, which I don't envy.

RE: App @ Idaho
Nice game by the Apps last night and good to see the ground and pound work so well. I will say that Idaho has a QB that can really sling it and has a bright future. As most of the Idaho posters mentioned, they just lack the depth to stand up to a big aggressive offense for 4 quarters. Nice effort by the Vandals but good to see App gain a little confidence back.

WAC 03-yes

I've heard the WAC revival theory but my understanding is that they've been without football long enough to lose their FBS status.

The Big West is also a former 1A conference and it's been floated that they could be paid off to be the shell for a new FBS conference.

All of this seems far-fetched to me. But I'm for it.

The game was what it was. When App's offense gets rolling, it's efficient and soul-crushing. Basically the same game as last year in Boone.

Kind of wish we had the same depth on the line we have in the backfield, but we're trying to get there.

RE: App @ Idaho
Depends on the situation, App found something on the side of our line, where we consistently pick up 4 or 5 yds almost every time, we also wanted to run the ball as much as possible to eat up the clock, and not give your offense a lot of time

We don't always run on 3rd and long, but when we do......well you know how it goes.
