RE: FB Commit: Safety Tyrez Lindsey
we need him to pack on some pounds to be a safety at the college level. good pickup though 8-)

*edit* just saw his 40 speed...4.8 is decent for a linebacker...not so much for a safety, so maybe he could be worked in as a outside linebacker. The average speed you want to see out of a safety is 4.3 -4.5 at worst....linebacker 4.5-4.8 at worst.

Yeah....maybe for a top pick in the nfl draft. The guys who can run legit 4.3-4.5 are rare. That's world class speed

I am strictly going from memory, but I believe I heard a commentator say the fastest 40 in the NFL this year was a 4.3

You are right. Earthbound needs to research his 40 times.

By the way, congrats on your recognition Saturday night. Well deserved.

I see Miss St offered him. We are officially out recruiting SEC teams for players.

And this guy has dreads. DB's with dreads always end up being good

I was about to say something myself, when i played at Germantown in the early 00's i was running 4.5 /4.6 all day and that was considered pretty fast

RE: FB Commit: Safety Tyrez Lindsey
A high school friend of mine got a tryout for the Cowboys in the early 80's. Ran 40 (forty) 40 yards dashes between 4.6 and 4.8. Caught every pass they threw at him. Was 6-3, 215 pounds. At the end they said, "Thank you for trying out. But we can't put anyone on the roster who can't run 4.4-4.6 consistently. FWIW.

20 yd shuttle is a better indicator of true speed for LB's. Change of direction is huge.

And CP44fla was so good at TE they moved him to center the next year.

What position did he play? 4.8 is pretty slow for a WR

The average NFL speed for a safety is 4.5 I don't expect high schoolers to be able to approach those numbers...I'm just sayin'... 4.8 is slow for a safety.

He was a WR and kicker in college. His dad had been an assistant coach with the cowboys. It was a courtesy kind of tryout.

most of the starting safeties in the nfl run between 4.4 to 4.6 so i could see Tyrez playing saftey for us at 4.8
