I have been afraid to admit my ignorance, but I cannot stand it anymore, why is Cluley nicknamed "Doc"?

Towson
Jay asked him in one of the weekly media day interviews, if I recall his dad is a doctor and he got the nickname in high school.

Thank you for asking so that I didn't have to 03-wink.

If I read Rocco right, the bubble screens were mostly standard down plays, so you have it backwards.

I'll second the screen to MAS, though. Great play that picked up a long 1st down if I remember right. I loved the passes to Armstrong at the end, too. Towson was expecting us to run up the gut and keep the clock going, and the throws left no time for the defense to react. It was snap-throw-run with DBs on their heels expecting a run up the middle. Those plays were a great example of the difference in playcalling this year. It's been a long time since I remember us calling plays to exploit a weakness instead of plays that focus only on our strengths.

RE: Towson
First of all, I really admire mat1992 for ALWAYS hanging in there. He writes great stuff and usually with a limited audience. Former player and great fan.

I found the below link interesting regarding poor officiating. A couple fans point to a few examples, namely the fumble Fetters took to the house. Of course, our highlights video shows very clearly that it was a backwards pass. That said, no TU fan mentioned the "worse officiating" that went in their favor to include MAS' "fumble" and called receptions when the Tigers WR was clearly out of bounds.

Poorly officiated game? Yes. But, I suggest TU benefitted most from that.

Well deserved
Part of the fun watching this team is much so many players have gotten better and better each week and Steve just may be a prime example. If he is not then absolutely the young inexperienced WRs are with the fine play they all have shown, it looks like some of them have even improved on their downfield blocking technique .
Time to take ur down

Well deserved, Clukey played a heck of a game. BTW, those bubble screens aren't the easiest throws. The timing, the placement so the reciever can get downhill fast are critical. A little low, high, to the side and it could blow the play up. He throwing a nice ball to the open receiver! Congrats to him.

During the JMU vs W&M game, I told a JMU fan that I would take their second string QB over Cluley. Glad to see that my analysis served as motivation for Cluley to step up his game.02-13-banana

I would not have said that at any point in this season. Can't speak to Lee, but Towson's QB is the first one I've seen that was dangerous more than 15 yards from the line of scrimmage. Cluley has consistently thrown the deep ball all season and it's a big part of our offense. For most CAA teams, a 40 yard pass is a 3 yard out/screen with a big run.

No jinx but Cluley's close to putting together the 3rd best season for a W&M QB since 2002.
