Congrats to Troy def an improvement from last year
BUT
GS has given up 40 points in the 4th qtr in games we won by 20 points or more. Basically at best a series or two of some #1's a lot of 2 teamers and some third string guys in on D in the fourth. GS has the highest total D on ESPN. Not saying our first team would have pitched shutouts but definitely skewed.
Not sure if this is the same for App giving up points in garbage time.
Troy's run D is 93 in the country. I was shocked to see GS was 53 in passing yds per game though it was way worse than that. That is technically above average for the FBS....doesn't seem right though. So our achilles heal seems to be a little less weak than yours.

We're 62rd in rush yards per play. We're 93rd in total rush yards given up. Teams have not passed nearly as much on Troy's defense as they have tried to run. Being only 0.01 behind GS in the conference rush defense is quite a feat since so many teams have tried to run on us. CSU ran 60 times on Troy, Wisconsin, NCSTATE, and Miss State relied heavily on their run game. We'll give up more vs GS than any, but we'll have at least some success stopping it I think.
We're 38th in rush yards per play if you hit the vs conference teams only button. I don't know if that's a meaningful stat or not, but it's worth looking at.
You're 86th in yards per attempt vs the pass.

I understand it to a certain degree. Lines are made to induce betting and ensure the house doesn't lose money. I could be wrong on that. That said, "vegas" is right more often than anyone in the country.
Vegas is just sitting there smiling with all those -6 bets rolling in on GS. They could slow it down at -7 but sometimes they take positions on games when they are confident they have an edge.
We'll see if Billy Walters or other syndicates step in an make them move it.
It is a market folks . . . and there is information to be gained from the number.
Go try to find a publicly available prediction maker or system that consistently beats the Vegas lines and you can move to Vegas and get filthy rich. You cannot.
The Vegas line is the single best indicator of probable outcome of games because there are smart people with deep pockets and quants and computers working for them trying to take Vegas's money all the time. Yet Vegas is still there, offering the same juice as they have for years.

If App got 248 I dont see us getting less. Their run game is solid but not near ours. We will see, Troy certainly has gotten better since the beginning of the year. Our DB's have not made a lot of outstanding plays but they do not let bad decisions or bad throws go unpunished much. As much as y'all throw I would be shocked not to get at least two picks. Fritz is good with half time adjustments usually so the beginning of the third quarter will likely be the most telling if things do not go well in the first half.

Sorry guys we have some fans that get consumed with numbers. Our defense is clearly better than they were last year, but it's not extremely talented. Recruiting will help that.
