They said he wasn't outside of the tackle box, I think it was extremely close and you could have gone either way with it.

Shouldn't matter if it's thrown out of bounds. If that's intentional grounding then spiking the ball should be intentional grounding.

Do you not know the rules? If you are in the box and you throw it away without a receiver in the area it's grounding. The only debate was if he was in the box, because no one was near that ball. I think you could make a good argument he was out of it.
