PAC 3 - Stanford, UCLA, Utah
ACC 3 - Clemson, North Carolina, Florida St
IND 1 - ND

So, only one conference with more. If they can get there, so can we.

We can, but not with this coach. It's not happening next year, you said yourself that Bailiff is sitting at 4-5 losses a year. So why continue down the same path?

According to this -- http://collegepollarchive.com/football/a...kERN6QkrE0 -- Rice hasn't made an AP poll appearance since at least 1970.

Rice hasn't been to the NCAA tournament in MBB since then as well.

Whats your point?

Actually, if you go to the Team Index at that site you will find that Rice has not appeared in the AP Top 20 since 1961. The only listing for even receiving votes in the period since was the week following the Marshall game in 2013.

Not making any point, just clarifying.

edit, further

Total Rice FB appearances in Top 20 since 1936: 70 appearances out of 1098 weeks
Total Rice MBB appearances in Top 20 since 1949: 8 appearances out of 1108 weeks
Total Rice WBB appearances in Top 20 since 1977: 0

Could not research Team's individual appearances in basketball, so don't know last appearance (i.e., was men's basketball more recent than 1961.

Again, absolutely no point to this, just posting data.

Just pointing out how remarkable it would be for Rice to be in the poll.

Your site does not show "also receiving votes" for Rice's "also receiving votes era" in the 90s. (SWC & WAC).

Also regrettable that AP was not able to conduct a poll after the very high ARV Owls won against top 25 Texas in 1994. (The weather-rescheduled game was late Sunday night and weekly votes were already in)

Not my site, InterestedX found it. It reads as if they might still be compiling data in some areas.

I found it curious that 2013 was the only 'also receiving votes' reference. There are other polls (wasn't the coaches poll the UPI back in the day? someone could help out here probably), but I thought some of Ken's teams got to the "ARV" level. I'd can't recall about the 1980 team. I'm not sure they were ever far enough above .500 to really be considered, but my memory that far back isn't exhaustive. I'm pretty sure they won the last game of the year to get to 5-6.

Looking at week by week results, we were probably last getting votes in 2001, at 6-1 before losing at LaTech in a heartbreaker.

3-1 OOC that year. Our three wins were amazingly against teams who ALL went winless in the season. They all three have been or are in top25 this year. One loss was against an 11-2 perennial top team who's been on the outs much of this year (not Texas BTW)

No better example of what can happen if we get our act together. And no better reminder that step one has to be getting our act together.

We received 8 votes in the final AP poll following the 2008 season.
