He is a Ruffin Mcneal/Mike Leach diciple. That would make games in Denton interesting for the Dawgs.

Not sure how good of a recruiter he is, but he's an up and coming name to get excited about.

LR did this a few times at ECU and was able to parlay it into more money for himself. Would not be surprised if he was doing this to force OUR into giving him more cash.

That would be a good get for N Texas. He would bring the fun back to your offense.

I think Doug Meacham from TCU would get good choice as well

Quote:In a statement, and while he didn’t deny an interview, Riley claimed that he is not a candidate for the UNT job.

“I understand that reports have linked my name to the head coaching vacancy at North Texas. I am absolutely not a candidate for that position. I am focused on only one thing — helping the OU Sooners win a conference championship.”

Quote:In a statement, and while he didn’t deny an interview, Riley claimed that he is going to get a raise at OU that will have him making within $100 or $200K of the north Texas state position and he will then wait for a much better opportunity either this year or in the next few years

Why not keep your present Temp-coach? He seems to have given your team a big push in morale.

I assuming you saw the results of the game yesterday and that answered your question? We had to spend all three timeouts in the first quarter because we couldn't get the right people on the field.

The big thing is we just need a clean slate with a new coach. To be more specific, he has been the offensive coordinator for six years and in that time we've recruited ZERO quarterbacks that can play at the D1 level (DaMarcus Smith may be proving to be the first). We saw Derek Thompson develop into a decent quarterback in his 5th season but that's it.

Canales is a good person with very high energy and the kids connect with him. I do wonder how that would play over the long term. He'll have no trouble finding a coaching job but if he wants to be a head coach I think he should consider dropping down a level to get experience and some success before teams at this level will look at him.
