+1 there aren't enough zeros I can fit after that 1 on how that is a big no.

Just spit-balling, but what about someone from the Novak era that is probably going to get fired this year and recruits the area in Scott Schafer? I'm sure and hope Frazier wants a coach who is not going to change the offense much at all and they run the spread at Syracuse.

Don't think Frazier would go for a re-hash, meaning someone who was previously a head coach at a higher level, especially one who didn't have a lot of success. Yes, I know it's tough to win at Syracuse, but 13-20 overall and 6-14 over the last two seasons is not good.

If the question was would Shafer be considered for D-Coordinator if Niemann leaves, then I think that would be a more realistic scenario.

I hope Carey stays at least 1 more year. Can't anybody like DeKalb and pass on the first big offer?

Didn't Doeren turn down interest from Purdue before accepting the NC State gig? Or was that just speculation?

And speaking of Purdue, saw yesterday that they're bringing Hazell back for another year. So, one less P5 job open.

I believe that he turned down an interview with them.

The Nebraska win saved him for another year.

Matt Canada is the clear and obvious first option.

NIU ties and Wisconsin ties with Fraizer. Coached here with the current system in place.

+1

Anyway we can give Carey another contract with a $1.5 Million buy out clause.

Give him a salary increase from $400 000 to $600 000 with a series of bonuses.

Victory over CMU,WMU and Toledo bonuses.
Victory over P5 game bonus.
MAC West Champion
MAC Champion
Bowl bonus
Undefeated season bonus.
$1 million major Bowl bones
$2 million play-off bonus.
$4 million play-off final bonus.
$5 million play-off champions bonus.

Set up a separate Alumni fund specifically for NIU FB coaching bonuses.
Get insurance incase NIU gets in the play-offs.

RE: If Carey takes another HC position...
I agree Canada is #1, and with the trouble NC State is in he might welcome the change and take less.

Other interesting candidates, within our reach:

Todd Orlando, Houston Def Coord(played LB at Wisc)...however could be the head coach at Houston too
Frank Wilson, LSU Rb coach
Scottie Montgomery, Duke O Coord
Ed Warinner, Ohio St O Cord
Kendall Briles, Baylor O Cord
DJ Durkin, Mich D Cord
Dave Aranda, Wisc D Cord

However I don't think Carey gets a spot.. After the recent failure of all MAC coaches and the lack of low profile P5 openings.

Maybe UCF, or Minnesota, don't think he would view North Texas as a better option

Brady Hoke??? MAC guy - would finish career here. He's good coach , Michigan just did not work out for him. Maybe he is an under the radar guy @ IL.

Dan Roushar - NIU grad - Oline coach at Michigan St and now with the New Orleans Saints, former OC @NIU & IL.
SOLID GUY. SOLID.

If for some reason Canada didn't want the job (I don't think there's anyway he wouldn't), Thomas Hammock is another guy who I imagine would be high on the list. Coached at Wisconsin, in the NFL, NIU ties. I think Canada is the guy, though.

Frazier's replacement might be our hiring our next football coach, whenever that is.

And, if NIU and Ryan Graham win out, Carey and (even, Frazier) will be gone.

So, expect at least Carey back next year.

Wouldn't you think that he would change the Offensive system?

What makes you think SF would be gone if that happened? I don't think he's any more or less likely to leave because the football team did well this year.

I don't think we have to seriously worry about Frazier departing until he hires a football and men's basketball coach.

Canada's likely near the top of the list, if not at the very top, but there's always the chance that he could turn it down (for whatever reason).

As far as an in-house hire, the one that might make the most sense to consider is Niemann. He's been an HC before (granted it was at Simpson College in Division III), but that's something to keep in mind if Frazier wants to include an in-house candidate.

My Sarcasm Meter is off tonight. Can't believe you're serious about this.

First, he's not leaving WMU for NIU with the contract he has. Second, why would we want that Freak Show in DeKalb?
