Memphis' success in football is one example of what can happen when a school puts forth the time, dedication, and money into a program...UCF is an example of what else can happen.

I would say UCF is an example of how quick it can turn. GOL isn't suddenly a bad coach...but I think their personnel didn't work out well this year (obviously).

That would not be good for us.

People can say what they want to about Kiffin (most of it would probably be true) but there are FAR WORSE hires that any school could make than Lane Kiffin...

First, he's incredibly well connected. He has always had an A-1 staff and would be able to bring that with him wherever he lands. Secondly, he is an amazing recruiter. That's half of the battle right there. He failed in the NFL (somewhat expected) and underachieved at USC. But he was on the cusp of doing something special at Tennessee and his first year was far from a failure.

So, a school like UCF could hire a Saban/Carroll coordinator, son of a HOF'er, a former NFL coach with major experience in the SEC & PAC 12 at premier jobs - MARGINAL SUCCESS at both stops - who can recruit his rear end off in a state loaded with talent.

That's a better resume than ANYONE the Knights could realistically target.

Kiffin wasn't ready from a maturity perspective be a HC at UT and USC. Now with a couple of years under Saban, I'm betting Lane will be a better HC going forward. That would be a tremendous hire for UCF but Lane will end up at a P5 school.

Agreed.

Kiffin is an extremely talented offensive mind, a charismatic recruiter and if he has learned from his time at USC, could now have the maturity to be a good HC. Put that kind of potential in the middle of the state of Florida, and that spells trouble for the conference.

Ditto. I'd be ok with him at Memphis or Miami. We'd have a hell of a run before the NCAA eventually came calling.
