I just noticed this as well. Was he the one who suggested that Antarius jump off the top of Rice stadium?

I didn't agree with a lot of his posts, but I did think he genuinely rooted for Rice and didn't understand the vitriole against him (at least 90% of the time).

I saw him a few years back at a Rice-UH game and he seemed reasonable then.

Yeah, I don't miss him either. Feels like a less frustrating place with him gone. I admit that he at time kind of made me crazy.

I don't think the issue was that he disagreed with people around here - we have plenty of that. It's that he was very often just clearly wrong, often combative, and felt the need to post literally non-stop.

With all that being said, I guess it wouldn't break my heart if he was invited back either. Without having met him, I have this sneaky suspicion that he's not a bad guy in real life.

No it just means we had a fan that didn't go to Rice. Shocking as that may be.

Afflicted has an opinion.
Just like the rest of us.
And like the rest of us, he sometimes inadvertently and sometimes blatantly pi**es people off.
He posted a lot. I read some. I ignored a lot.
Unless he was guilty of more than expressing an opinion ( and I assume the mods would know if he was crossing the line in PMs, etc) I think he should be invited back.

Really? Wishing death on someone with a martyr complex seems counterproductive.

This politically correct crap has gone WAY overboard. If he said he would push him off, that's one thing, but I think it was probably either said tongue in cheek or in a moment of frustration.
It has been a particularly brutal year on this board.

If we think he was serious and unhinged, OK.
If Antarius was complaining and felt threatened, OK.

If he was frustrated and just crossed a line, maybe a timeout is in order.

I don't think he really wishes anyone's death, but admittedly I'm only basing it on the body of his work. Seemed he was getting more frustrated with the whole ongoing debate lately. If so, I don't think he's the only one (on both sides). So maybe the time out will help.

I know when my Board frustration level starts to rise, getting away from the keyboard for several days or more is a good thing.

(But to At Ease, even if he was frustrated and/or tongue in cheek, I admit it was not a good post and shouldn't have been made)

I don't know how much this thread is violating the AUP, but for what it's worth "bans" aren't necessarily permanent. If I recall correctly, bans can be more like timeouts as Rick suggests. And while I'm certain Afflicted wasn't banned for being a condescending, ill-informed coog-loving Owl fan, I do think a little quiet time was probably called for after that post responding to Antarius.

LOL, if being condescending were a ban-able offense, I think a good chunk of the Parliament would have spent time in timeouts. Myself included of course.
