The Mike Leach book "Swing Your Sword" was a pretty good read.

"Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer" is also good. Not strictly about the games, though.

Ugh....can't believe I forgot the Bruce Feldman book "Meat Market". Excellent insight into modern college football recruiting.

MplsBison might be interested in this book: Minnesota Football: The Golden Years 1932-1941. It is filled with the stats of such legends as Pug Lund, Bruce Smith and more. Drive charts of the biggest games.

I'm looking for a copy of Stars of an Earlier Autumn by Tex Noel. It is a volume of pre 1937 stats of old time players. Unfortunately, it is out of print and all my efforts have been futile.

Murray Sperber's book "Beer and Circus: How Big Time Athletics are Crippling Undergrad Education" is a great read

John U. Bacon's The Rise, the Fall and the Return of Michigan Football is a great read.

In 1963, there was a huge scandal involving Bear Bryant and a then-popular national magazine called the Saturday Evening Post. It was a very complex situation and I don't feel like unpacking all of the details if it here, but in 1986 a book about the affair was written/published by a lawyer hired by the Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference to keep tabs on the situation. The title of the book was "Fumble":

Edit: Looking at Pony94's book about the SMU scandal of the 1980s, it reminds me that one of the central figures in that whole affair was a Pony booster named George W. Owen. That man lived an amazingly dramatic/scandalous life, and it's curious that no one has ever written his biography.

Most of it.

Of course I realize there are other ways to get books besides Amazon, but I tried to order it from them and they act like it's not out yet
