May be some truth to this. As pointed out earlier in a thread that got twisted, the former BE teams are all middling.

It may have been a day-late, but all of our administrations/AD's, local top business leaders in our community have finally realized how important economically to the success of our respective cities to have a very successful college football program. Even not considering going to greener pastures, all institutions understand that the only way any of us survive is to up the level of competitiveness, so that it will be as difficult as possible for the P5 to totally put us on the other side of the fence. All of us are pouring more resources into football than we ever have. And, it's starting to show.
