Keep hitting people over the head with that, maybe they'll figure it out.

Alabama is the ONLY 1-loss team guaranteed a spot if they win out.

Notre Dame plays Wake Forest and Boston College, which can only damage them.

ND even if they win the next 2 weeks can drop some spots.

Right

They also only play 12 games...it hurts the Big 12, could (should) hurt them too. Also, would the committee penalize them because they have already lost to Clemson - should ND be allowed another shot at Clemson? Just a thought.

Notre Dame is college football royalty. There is enough human element to make these type of things happen. At the end of the day, every inference will be in Notre Dames favor. If they beat Stanford and the rest of their schedule, that will be enough. BTW, I am not a Notre Dame hater just a realist.

The inevitable question would still be:
"Is there a team out there that would have boosted the B12 into contention?"

Yes, a CCG doubtless helps the B12. But simply playing the additional game doesn't necessarily give the boost to Baylor with their weak schedule.

Just looked up Baylor's schedule... even if they win out, I think their overall record is still one game under .500 based on today's records. I know they can only beat who's on their schedule... and that round robin conference scheduling hurts a lot for overall record but that is why the committee hopefully sends a message about OOC scheduling quality and the importance of a CCG which typically would add another victory against a team that is at least +5 or +6 in the W-L arena.

This is why the polls, bowls, and now this playoff system are a sham. The new system did not change anything. ND will get an extra look, because of teams and championships from the past. Certain teams get the nod based in part on whether fans will travel and/or an execs feeling the ratings might be better.

With that said, I believe ND should be included if they beat Stanford. However, TCU was dropped last year due to an osu team with a past history and fan base which probably travels better. The initial excuse was their non-conf. When it seemed non-conf strength was minimal, at best, compared to osu, they drifted to not having a 13th game. I just wish the selection committee was honest. I wish they would state the obvious; a "traditional power" will have a leg up over a perceived lower tier P5 team.
