Did O'Leery get a golden parachute? If the violations are so much to blame, that's on his watch.

Take your team and knock away 15 scholarship players at random for violations. Toss in another 15-20 hurt or quit. Toss out nearly all your assistant coaches for a brand new group.

At one point we had a true freshman center, true freshman QB, and walk-on RB starting. Then no previous year starters on the field. That is the making of bad football.

I understand losing to FBS teams with all the injuries, but there is no way we should be losing to a .500 FCS team. Either our team isn't as talented as we think it is, or the coaches have been doing a horrible job preparing the team. Even with all the injuries, and depleted roster, we should be able to beat a mediocre FCS team.

Look back at some of the games under GOL even when UCF had a winning records. How many games have we watched them completely physically dominate a team but only be up 3 or 7 at the half?

His slow ball control and conservative style made a lot of those games closer longer than they needed to be even during the good times. Pushing on the break instead of the gas pedal. So this season is the perfect storm of everything going wrong

I also like Brent Venables (DC @ Clemson) if Bill Snyder doesnt retire at KSU. That's Venables' alma mater.

Venebles is set to make ~ $1.5mil next year. Give him a modest raise ($1.7mil), a 4 year deal (with an out provision for K State), and toss in the prestige of being a HC at a program that could do a quick turnaround... and I think he would be on board.

The guy has energy. I think just about any Florida (or Texas or California) team can reload and ramp up if they have fans, good facilities, and a hire the right coach. UCF seems to have 2/3 right now.

I'm really surprised Venebles name hasn't been brought up by UCF or anyone else

I think there is this new trend or fear of hiring a Defensive Coordinator. I'd rather go with a Defense first guy...to me as a fan watching this year there is nothing more demoralizing than watching a terrible defense. I can tolerate cold stretches with an offense but recruiting guys that can make a defender miss will make any offensives system fun to watch

One of the worst of all time? Considering their circumstances and two losses were by one point, no way. Let's see how the remainder of the season plays out - they still have 3 games left. With all due respect, is there much difference this year between UCF, Kansas, SMU, Wyoming, Miami, OH, North Texas and NM State?

Here some all time losers for consideration:

Maybe not the worst ever but one of the worst. UCF is not playing FBS level football. Watch them beat the Pirates though.

The worst UCF team that I can remember. If UCF hires the right people it should be a quick turnaround and should be back in the thick of it in 2 seasons. We can't let good local talent get away.

Maybe the worst collapse to take place in 2 years under the same coach?

Perhaps at some point in the future, UCF fans can tell outsiders what really happened this year. I can't think of a New Years Day type bowl team sinking to a no-win level so quickly without drastic coaching changes in between......and then the mid-season "retirement".

You can add TXST to this list.

Just lost to NMSU. We were a 17 pt favorite and lost by 10. They're now 2-17 over the past 2 seasons and we were bowl eligible in 2013/14.
