Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst publicly backs coach Mike Riley
"While many are understandably disappointed in the current record of our football team ... I am confident the future is bright because I see it in the eyes of our players and I am impressed by what I know is going on behind the scenes," Eichorst said in the statement. "Our coaches are developing our student-athletes, and, though the consistent victories are not there yet, I am confident they will come."

You never know, but Eichorst's job is on the line because he hired Riley, and probably couldn't fire Riley after one season without getting canned himself. Eichorst has nothing to lose by sitting back and hoping Riley wins 9 or more next year.

He has spoken publicly twice now since the start of the season and it is only Nov. 2nd. lol.

He knows he fricked up and will get fired over this. The one hire that will determine your employment fait at Nebraska is the hire you make for the head football coach.

SE better hope he can escape to Wisky before he gets the pink slip. He is running out of time.

I don't understand why Nebraska isn't playing SMU, Houston, Rice, UTSA, etc... in Texas to gain a recruiting foothold.

If they want to recruit Texas, then go recruit Texas. Minnesota's two starting freshman running backs are from Georgia. Gophs won't be playing in that state any time soon.

Nebraska just needs a signature win to hang its hat on for this season, going into next season. Their rivalry game is now Iowa, which goes to Lincoln at the end of the season.
