What's the scoop on Norville Carey and the other player whose wanting to redshirt?

Carey, Holland and Chapman have all apparently gone to Doc and said they would like to redshirt so that they may have the possibility to play in post season next year. Obviously this is an indication that they believe we will have a post season ban again this year.

If these guys were just coming in to the program, this would upset me as a fan but the fact that they endured last season and had to accept the punishment for something that did not involve them, I am fine with them requesting this.

MT beat Ole Miss by 1 point in a scrimmage on Sunday and the exhibition game with Faulkner[AL] on Nov. 12th is the only home game for MT's men in the month of November.

Nice! Hoping MT comes into the season strong and takes some scalps in OOC games. You guys have a nice schedule

UAB beat Cal State East Bay 99-59.

3,553 attended.

68/99 points scored by our bench. Starters didn't play that much honestly.

Won't look too much into it because CSEB isn't d1 level competition.

UTEP defeated East Central Oklahoma last night by a score of 78-66. We did get to see Dominic Artis for the first time, as his eligibility issues were cleared up. Artis was playing in his first game in about 18 months. He had a very nice game with 19 points, 5 assist, 5 rebounds and 0 turnovers. The other "stars" of the game were JUCO newcomer Lee Moore who had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Tevin Caldwell who had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Caldwell is a walk on senior and has not played much before. UTEP played without: Omega Harris= will not play this semester, and Ervin Morris, Terry Winn and Christian Romine who were all suspended by Floyd for putting themselves before the team. “I don’t think you will see those guys next week,” Floyd said. “And probably not the next week, either. They have to learn how important it is to think outside yourself and think of others. When they do that, they will be better people.” UTEP will be playing without THREE starters (imo) for the next two weeks. It's a good thing our schedule is so soft.

RE: Basketball exhibition games reports
Rice defeated LeTourneau 102-78. Our newcomers all look great. Egor Koulechov (Arizona State transfer) had 23 points and 10 rebounds and I think will definitely be in the mix for conference newcomer of the year. We also had four freshmen combine for 58 points and all of them looked to be as good of a group as we had several years ago with Dylan Ennis (later Villanova/Oregon transfer), Arsalan Kazemi (also Oregon transfer/NBA draftee), etc.

The one bummer (and it could be a huge bummer) was that Marcus Jackson got hurt late in the first half on a non-contact play. It's either serious or minor - still don't know for sure quite yet. Another one of our freshmen recruits is out for the year with a knee injury so I sure hope this isn't the year for injuries for us. We are postseason quality if healthy.

To be honest we could have named the score. That opponent was not very good. That said I like the potential of this team and our two newcomers will help us.

Fortunately this was an exhibition so it doesn't count...

We lost our exhibition to UNC Pembroke last year. It sucks no matter if it counts or not.

Newberry scored more points and won.

And our top 3 players did not play for various reasons, apparently, due to minor surgery, team rule infraction, and eligibility in December.
