Obviously the NLCS was painful. Cubs young hitters really struggled against an Aces pitching staff from the Mets. Baseball's a weird, random game in small samples. Cubs went 7-0 against the Mets during the regular season and 0-4 in the playoffs. Murphy hit 6 homeruns combined in during April, May and June...he hit homeruns in 6 straight playoff games off some of baseball's best pitchers. I thought the Cubs would need 3 of 4 from Lester/Arietta to win the series. When they lost the first two, they were in trouble.
That said, what a season as a Cubs fan. I was confident Theo was building the right way, but the Cubs only had a few last place finishes to show for it. This year I was confident they'd get up to .500 maybe a few games better, instead they won 97 games, finishing with the 3rd best record in baseball, won a wild card do or die game, and beat their arch rivals in the divisional round. The hitters are young and will improve, they have an opportunity to increase the depth of their starting pitching (need at least one more guy who have confidence in for October). Great season... I feel really good about them moving forward.
At the end of the game, despite being down big, despite it being 3-0 in the series, the fans were still there supportive as they always are even in the down times. Of the teams I root for, I care about the Bearcats the most, think the Bengals winning a title would be the most fun, but undoubtedly the Cubs have the best overall fan base. Great season and can't wait to see this team compete for titles for the foreseeable future.

Cubs will be fine. Better ownership. Better GM. World's better manager.

RE: Reds Baseball
And the Reds "big" off season moves commence.
Bench coach and pitching coach let go. Same with the assistant hitting coach.
Billy Hatcher is the new 3b coach....Riggelman is the new bench coach...Will make his silly promotion easier for the brass when Price gets fired in late May.

RE: Reds Baseball
I may interview the Cubs for a new team to follow. Looks like fun. The Reds are so wholly unenjoyable to watch I just sort of stopped this year for the first time in my life. More of the same on tap for 2016. Cards, KC, Cubs, Mets, Astos...all enjoyable to watch. I'll turn on a game to watch them in the regular season regardless of who they are playing.
I'm about done rooting for a pro team just because I live here and have 40 years of practice. At some point the team has to be one that you enjoy watching, rooting for and spending time and money on. I just don't enjoy the Reds as currently comprised and that has little to do with the standings. It's like chewing glass watching this team.

The Nationals are too cheap to hire their primary target as manager so they've turned their attention to Dusty Baker.

And the Nationals will be a much better managed team than the Reds right off the bat. Price is as low rent as it gets..

Bridge to Larkin.
To be fair, the organization set him up to fail with the roster he was given and injuries just made matters worse.

The organization set him up to fail by hiring him when he had absolutely no experience doing this. He's Jerry Nearon without prior managing experience.

Dick Williams promoted to GM but Walt stays on as operations manager. Seems like Walt will still be pulling all the strings, unfortunately.

Promoting from within changes nothing in that role.
