I think Mark Richt ends up coaching somewhere in the ACC Coastal Division.

I truly admire the accomplishments of Coach Beamer. He is surely among the great ones in the game. Here is one UVa fan with hats off to a great man.
And here's hoping the Hokies never find a coach that good again.

Beamer to retire
Beamer is a great coach & a living legend, it's sad to see him go but it is time. Hopefully VT can find another that can continue his legacy of excellence.

If somebody pays UGAg to take ANOTHER problem off their hands in this conference so they can upgrade dramatically, I'll launch into low Earth orbit.

Great coach and a class act. He likely stayed there far too long. He was one of the good guys. Best of luck to the VT program moving forward.

Since you are a Georgia Tech fan who wants to see failure at Georgia, when you compare current day Richt to potential replacements, what type of coaching hire do you think would improve the Dawgs? I'd take specific names if you have them.
Would you view almost any replacement of Richt to be bad for UGA's rivals? I believe some outside the state think Georgia fans may feel the grass is greener when it may not be, but that's the outsider perspective.

Richt is the right person for them... that's the point. Their expectations are unreasonable. They want to be Top 10 every year and win a title as often as Alabama. They don't want to ever lose to Florida, Auburn, or GT. Three GT loses in a row is a death sentence in Athens. The fans now want him gone. And let's look at the last schools to send successful 9-win coaches packing: Nebraska, Maryland. YES PLEASE FIRE HIM UGAG. To get the full effect he must be fired, not simply be "hired away" elsewhere.

Absolutely! I want to see them take that SECN money and flush it down the drain by paying as many guys as possible NOT to coach...

RE: Beamer to retire
IMO Richt is a coach much like Tommy Bowden. He's a coach you bring in when you need to improve your program, but he's not going to be the one to get you over the championship hump and if you keep him too long you eventually start the regress.
Richt is going to improve your talent level because he's a good recruiter. He's going to run a clean program with the NCAA and is going to dump any players who break the law, and he's going to graduate players. Just don't expect to win many championships.

I think Richt was hired at UGa the same year as Tommy Bowden. Do I remember that correctly?

Any idea who is next at VT?
I know Rodriguez has been mentioned but nobody else. Do they finally promote Bud Foster?
